Cool, so the external wire does not affect the total ohms of build in any way? Is it the same for fused claptons?
Pretty much, but not quite exactly. In parallel resistors, current flows in inverse proportion of each resistor to the total resistance of them added. Thus, if you had a 90 Ohm resistor paralleled with a 10 ohm resistor, you'd have a total of 100 Ohms. The 90 Ohm resistor would carry 10% of the current, while the 10 Ohm resistor would carry 90% (also of the available voltage). The situation is similar, but not identical, in a Clapton coil. The inner wire is the low resistance current path, but it is not the only one (assuming you clamp the outer, Clapton wire in the post hole along with the central conductor). Therefore the central wire carries most of the current, but not quite all of it. Moreover the loops of the coil (in a contact coil) cross conduct to some extent and in a Clapton rig this must go through the Clapton wire as that is the part that makes contact. This makes for some complex math, which I don't know enough about electricity to solve. But in general, you can assume your Clapton wire is a few percent more resistive than the bare core wire is alone. How much is probably best established by experimentation unless and until some EE publishes a table. It is also possible to unwind the Clapton wire from the core a few mm at the ends of the coil so you only clamp the central wire in the post holes. In this case, the central wire resistance is very close; being affected only by the cross connections, which also occur in slick wire coils.

Verticals. I haven't tried for a while but I have been semi-successful with the Kanger coils. Funky taste though (not quite burned, more like savory) that tell me I've got the amount of wicking wrong.

I've drawn a line in the sand, and am refusing to buy any more coils, which kinda leaves me with one tank until I can rebuild either the kanger or the aspire BVC coils.
Tanks with better airflow?



Rebuilding Kanger coils is what I'm trying to do right now. Any quick suggestions/secrets?

I got the new Kangertech mini with their new 50 watt Subox kit,(( Lovin It )).
With the rebuildable coil I wrap 26 ga. kanthal 6 x's into a micro coil to the diameter of the air flow and set it in place verticaly (.9 ohms) .
1 slice of the cotton sheet 1/4" wide ( after separating the cotton sheet in half ),,-cut into 3rd's-. 1 third goes around the coil loosly.
Put the barrel on the coil and tighten set screw.
1 third of the cotton to 1wicking port left side, another third to the other wicking port ((loosly)).
Juice it up.
Screw the top of the coil head on.
Then push the juiced cotton in ( through the wicking hole ) so it its not up against the barrel of the coil.

At 28 to 33 watts,------>
Wicks 20/80 (Pg/Vg) juice fantastic.
And the air flow ( unrestricted ) is great.
NOTE: If your juice is thinner, you might not need to push the cotton in. If you get a dry hit, take it apart and poke the cotton into the wicking port.
