within my own thoughts....
Well i hadn't planned on posting this thread until i was maybe a month or longer into vaping, however....after learning the hard way in regards to how easy it is to burn out attys and using cheap iclear tanks, i really would love input from some of you Senior Vapors.

Watched a few vids today to get an idea on what's out there to suit my liking on Mods, tanks etc and here's what i've come up with. First off, let me give you some info on what i'm using now and it was my first Mod since being an exsmoker. I bought an Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0 shine edition last friday and have already went through several bottles of ejuice, three atomizers and i still don't feel like i have the right set up. Don't get me wrong, i love the MVP, but i think where i've went wrong is in the tanks, so with that said....this is what i'm looking at for my first upgrade:

I've read reviews and watched utube vids on the eLeaf iStick and i truly feel that it fits into my budget and it will give me the ability to increase my VW because it is a higher powered Mod than the iTaste....so is this a good choice?

As far as tanks....i'm going with the Aspire Nautilus Mini....i've heard this is an awesome tank. But i am curious if it's best to go ahead and buy several atty's as well, just in case i get a defect in one.

For the ejuices....i've located a few sites online that offer cheaper ejuices than what i'm buying at my local vape shop, but i have a question. Do most of you have a tank for one juice and then another tank for a different juice? Just because i've noticed if i switch out juices in the same tank, i end up tasting the previous juice for quite awhile until the coils absorb the new juice. Hope that made sense. lol

So i guess what i'm saying is: If you have 3 favorite different ejuices you vape on....do you use 3 separate different tanks? Or do you put in a new atomizer?

I apologize if i seem a bit clueless on some of this, but i am still learning and really need some input from the Senior Vapors on my next upgrade.

Thanks in advance and i pray my next choice of Mod/Tank will be my last for awhile because i truly want to find a really good tank that i LOVE and doesn't have that loud airy sound everytime i inhale and so far, the tanks i have are either TOO airy sounding or have too much resistance that my jaws hurt from having to puff so hard on them.

Again, any and ALL advice is appreciated!! :vapor:

Hello Ky, I have 2 nautilus Mini's and really like them. They seem to be really popular. I bought two so I can just switch out two of my fav vapes. I keep some inexpensive SMOK Micro Coil RDC's with other flavors in them ($4) just to keep switching. They hit really easy and have an adjustable air flow. Rather than clean each tank out, I just swap between flavors. Good luck, I'm certain someone woith more experience will be along .

Welcome to the forums!

I have heard a lot of good things about the MVP. I have never owned one, but i would suspect you could just keep it and purchase a new tank. What tank are you currently using? Either way a Nautilus mini is a great tank, and always a good choice. To help me quite i always carried 2 tanks with me. That way if i had any problems i could just switch the tank out. I didn't want to have any frustrations. It was also nice to have different juices. I would definitely get sick with one half way through the day. So i carried a cheaper second tank. It was an aspire K1.

Yayyy, thank you Sir....now i really can't wait to my Nautilus mini, but guess i'll have to get a few of em as well. Right now i have only 1 favorite ejuice and have yet to find my 2nd...which i know i need to do, but after trying many at my local vape shop, nothing can compare to the UJ's Jon Wayne and that's my one and only for now. Plus, buying at local vape shop is just too expensive with their juices compared to online. Downside of online purchasing is you don't get to taste test it first.

So for now, i will just enjoy my Uncle Junks and vape only on it...can't wait to see how it taste in the Nautilus mini! :)

Thanks for the welcome MSand and right now i have an Aspire ET-S glass clearomizer...which it's okay, but again...i get that airy sound and it annoys me a bit, but i get a decent vape on it. Then yesterday i got a iClear 30B, which actually more noisy but it was free, so can't complain. lol Then i have the one that came with the MVP, but don't know the name of it right now, but it had way too much resistance when trying to take a draw off of it. So yeah, i think i need to invest in a more expensive tank and i've heard nothing but good reviews on the Nautilus Mini.

Will have to google the Aspire K1....i do think Aspire is a top quality dealer!

I have a first generation MVP and liked it, but I've moved on from it, too.

Presently, I'm using a Provari 2.5 (regulated mod) with a Kayfun Lite Plus (rebuildable tank atomizer), and a Silver Bullet (mechanical mod) with a Patriot rebuildable drip atomizer. Prior to rebuilding coils, I used cartotanks on my mods. Until the Mini Nautilus came along, I never cared too much for clearomizers as I felt they muted flavors.

I think if you can afford it, a Mini Nautilus on an eLeaf iStick is a great choice for you. I would buy extra coils for the tank -- you're going to need them eventually anyway.

It's much more convenient to have a separate tank for each flavor that you use. Back when I was using cartotanks, I had up to 12 tanks going at one time, each with its own flavor. I built this collection up over time, buying a new tank or two every month. Sounds pricey until you compare this with how much you spent when smoking.

Rebuilding coils is a little more work, and requires some research to do it properly and safely. But you save a LOT of money by rebuilding. Wire and wick material is dirt cheap compared to purchasing replacement coils every 1 - 2 weeks. With my drip atomizer, I don't have to change anything when changing to another favor, just drip the new flavor onto my cotton wick. Another benefit is that the flavor and vapor production is better, too. However, don't feel pressure to jump into this facet prematurely until you are ready. The main goal should be to stop smoking, and stay off of smoking.

Baditude, thanks for the info and it sounds like you really have a good collection. When i first seen some vids on rebuilding etc, i was like "no way" would that even interest me. However, after you realize how quickly some atty's burn out for whatever reason and then i ended up running back to the vape shop to get a new one...i realize now that i may have to look into this more.

Which reminds me of the girl i talked to yesterday while i was there. She rebuilded her coils and i asked her if it was easier on the ejuice and she said she found herself going through more ejuice on the rebuildable coils, but she got a better vape with them and like you said, she said it was cheaper. So i guess eventually i will want to seriously do the rebuildables also.

Thanks again.

P.s. Checking out your blog and it looks like there's a LOT of great info on there. A new bookmark added to my Vape Folder...cool!! :)

Hi Ky, I'm new to the forum as well but i've been vaping several years now. In terms of your set-up, the MVP is, at the of the day, just a battery - and a good one at that. The magic really is in the juice and the atty you use. I haven't tried a Nautilus yet, but they have got rave reviews and always seem to be out of stock on a lot of the web stores, so they must be pretty good! I do have an ET-S which is also made by Aspire and uses basically the same atomiser heads, and they are fantastic. I would definitely buy a few spare atty heads. They still seem to be a little variable in quality; I've had some that just taste burnt after a day or two and some that are amazing for 2-3 weeks.

For ejuice, i've found that it's basically impossible to give recommendations because flavor and taste is so subjective. You just have to keep trying! I would say though that the sooner you get into mixing your own the better. It is way more affordable, and really quite easy to do. You can then have all the fun of crafting your own, custom made favorite flavor!

Here is a link to the K1. it has a tight draw, but you can drill it out. It is also glass so you do not have to worry about juices breaking it. Looks like it is right about the same thing you are using. maybe try and drill it out a bit to open up the draw.

No problem. :)

You'll also find that once you begin rebuilding, you will immediately drop your nicotine level down one level. For example, if you are at 12 mg nic, you'll want to drop down to 6 mg nic or it will be too harsh. Nicotine has a peppery taste, and too much can cause harshness and coughing. It's what gives vaping whats termed the "throat hit".

You'll thus be tasting more of the original flavor with dropping the nic, as the nic contributes its own peppery flavor to the mix. I'm down to 6 mg, and sometimes even 0 mg nicotine. Heck, sometimes I even vape pure VG (vegetable glycerin available at Walmart) -- it has its own natural sweetness and makes a ton of vapor.

I agree with everything you say about coils, baditude. I think a great place to start is 1st gen Evods. I started rebuilding the coils for them and it's a bit fiddly but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to rebuilt them at all. I still use Evods now, for exactly that reason, and because i think they give such a great on-the-go vape for such little expense.

Golfbravo77, Curious, do you make your own ejuices now? I would really love doing that, but until i get my Nautilus mini etc....i've pretty much exhausted my vape budget until this next month...which isn't far off. lol But yeah, i do like the flavor quality a lot better with the Aspire ET-S and i'm thinking this airy sound i'm getting with two of my tanks is just something i will have to get use too. But back to the DIY on ejuices....i've never been great in math, except the basics and it just seems so confusing to me right now....but i know once i get serious about making my own, i'll find a good site online that can explain it in simple terms. Btw, welcome to ECF also....i love it here!

MSand, hmmm...didn't see a link but i'll refresh this thread after i post this reply. But when you say "drill it out"....do you mean literally...get a Drill? lol

Baditude, so do you have any withdrawals from leveling down the nic strength? What about the throat hit on just the VG? Speaking of VG, i bought my first bottle yesterday at Walmart, it's the Humco 99.5% Vegetable Glycerin and last night i just added a few drops to my tank and noticed it sweetened my ejuice a little...but for getting a bigger cloud of vape, it didn't change that much. So will be experimenting with that and the reason why is because i'm needing to make my remaining ejuice last me longer and i heard VG is better than PG, but i'm more into the throat hit on vaping so going to order me a bottle of PG offline soon and see which best suits me. But yeah, curious about you having any kind of withdrawals?

Golfbravo, yeah i'm going to invest in a Evod soon also. I think i'll go with the Innokin iStick just because of the reviews on it and it's better to take on the go than a bigger Mod.

sorry did i forget to add the link..?? here: Eigate Aspire K1 - EGO Glassomizer BVC

Yep, i mean take a drill and drill the 2 air holes at the base out a bit. start small and work your way up. When I did this to a K1. It ended up being really close to flavor/vapor production of a Nautilus. definitely vapor, flavor might have been just a little better on a Nautilus.

Ky, Welcome to you too! Yes I make my own juice now. It's actually super easy and you don't need to be a maths ninja to do it - there are good online calculators that do it all for you (See link below). All you have to do is plug in the numbers, be meticulous about making sure you use the right amount of nic base, and careful not to spill it on your skin. It is so, so much cheaper. I have a 500 ml bottle of 72 mg vg bas nicotine, which I bought in like March or April last year, and i've only got through about a third of it. I buy 10 ml bottles of flavor concentrate, at like $3-4 each, and 500 ml bottles of pg which also cost about $10 and last months. So my vaping costs are now about $250 for the year.

you can also use distilled water to thin your juice out. just remember anything you add will dilute the flavor.

MSand, thanks for the link and i'll have to look into this drilling....may save me some $$ :) Just seen your other post of using water to dilute and i actually asked a question about that earlier on the forum and most said it can damage the atomizers....so no problem so far with water for you?

GolfBravo77, speaking of not getting the nic on your skin, didn't know this until i read something on the forum earlier this week and i was like...Oops lol Didn't seem to irritate my skin though....although one night i didn't sleep cause i was wide awake all night, related? lol So do you have a favorite site you go and get all your supplies...i.e. bottles, syringes, flavors? Yep, since i can go through a half a bottle of 15ml of my favorite juice each day...which i'm spending $15 a bottle just for 15ml, i think i may really need to learn how to do this SOON! Thanks so much for the link!

EDIT: Just tried that ejuice calculator and i kinda guessed on a few %'s that i wasn't clear on what i should add and then clicked the button at the bottom of the calculator and it didn't give me anything. Maybe i'm not using it properly?

I will admit. I have not actually added water to any juice, but i have seen other suggesting it. Not sure why it would damage an atomizer if it was mixed into the juice. i have also seen suggestions to use vodka! so, maybe give that one a try instead.. Again i have not done it, but i have soaked atomizers in vodka to clean them. I can tell you this works.

here is a nice site for DIY recipes. (looks like you will need to add tiny url to this one. not sure why i can not post link.)

I have been using a Nautilus Mini on an iStick and it works great! Aspire has even just improved the design of the BVC coils for them (larger Wick Holes). I have no problem just keeping the same coil and adding a different flavored juice to the tank. Check out Moon Mountain, their Sweet Mother of Mars is a great RY4 (tobacco/caramel) flavor and my favorite juice from them is Cosmo's Custard!!! I vape it every day ;) Their juices come in glass bottles with glass droppers. Just shake them good, warm them up, and shake them some more. Good to go right out of the mail! Moon Mountain Vapor The Stellar line are all 50/50 Juices.

Ky, Your sleeplessness may well have been related, but it can be more serious than that. Nicotine is poisonous at the wrong dose, and readily absorbed through the skin, so it's very easy to give yourself nicotine poisoning (bad) if you don't wipe/wash it off straight away.

In terms of supplies I shop around, especially for the flavors. Msand has put some nice links up. I would try those, although I'm having issues with MFS at the moment so I cannot in good faith recommend them.
