I've been looking through the banner links but all the ones I have seen are still the "days since stopped smoking" type ... So I think I'll wait as otherwise it would be to depressing to have to keep changing it back if I have my 1/day (which I confess U'm probably won't manage consistently without ... Yet).

I'm trying to focus on the positive this time because in the past if I had 1 cigarette I always gave up and jumped back into smoking again ... I'm hoping I can make one of the side benefits of not stopping immediately to at least leave me with an attitude that if I stumble and have a cigarette I don't give up and call the attempt a failure, and could regard it more as a slight hiccup in the process. (And also because as I have mentioned I get stressed about quitting I immediately want a smoke!)

Brenda, you can't beat yourself up. I have a stinky every couple days with my pa, have a small cigar every other day, etc etc etc. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, you have to realize there is other chems in cigs that keep you there.

Think this way - EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU PICK UP YOUR vape TOOL YOU ARE NOT HAVING A SMOKE!!!!!!!

I am doing well, and it is really hard at times, do not get that point twisted. BUT, I don't feel bad about having the occasional one because I'm not having them all the time. And the longer you go without, the better you are off no matter what. Even if it cancels one cig a day you are doing well, that is one less you are putting in your beautiful body, and well worth it ;) I told myself I want to quit, still have an occasional and don't feel bad because of the ones I don't have. I also told myself even if it costs twice as much it is worth it for health alone!!!!

This is also why I picked up tobacco flavored, and strong nic (24mg) and harsh throat hit. Make it replace them for now, until you can smell them and just plain don't want them anymore! It's a long road, we will walk it together :)

Thanks Kagey, it has been a while :) Uphill battle but those are the kind I like ;)

Thank you so much for the encouragement, it really means a lot!

I just realized that since I am here every day anyways I could make my own tally of analogues avoided/$ saved and update it until I get to the point where I can have a "real" quit smoking one.

And I agree with you about the tobacco flavours and higher nic ... I find something with a bit of a bite to it really helps - even a really strong cappucino flavour I have - same reason I think I tend to prefer a higher PG. I have a theory that the throat hit triggers an endorphin release in some of us -sort of like the appeal for the hot chili pepper addicts - but for whatever reason that is sometimes a definite part of the craving for me.

Every cig you avoid is a win. Don't get upset about the ones you have. I found when I started that if I vaped right after I put a cig out the vape tasted better and soon my brain just switched and now my gag reflex goes off if I dare try to have one. Even if you mix cigs and vaping forever you are doing far less damage and saving money, so you are on the right path.

Thank you for the encouragement & that's a great tip about vaping right after a cigarette -definitely will try that!

I have no doubt we will kick it dear, time and patience :) I have a feeling you're a little high strung naturally like me, we just have to find ways to occupy our minds better!?!? Have a good night, hope to hear from you soon :D

Before I fully quit I found that I would light a cig and even though it was burning in my left hand I'd be puffing off my vape on the other as my cig burned away. It's tricking your brain into thinking that this is our addiction now after that it's gravy.

Keep your vape with you as you smoke and vape after smoking and subconsciously it will happen naturally. At least it did for me.

Day 1 with my vaporizer as soon as I set it down I was reaching for a pack, day 5, pack wasn't even in my thoughts.

Sorry but I was gone running some scans- has to be done by Sat. nite and wanted to spend some time with my wife so doing them now.

What an interesting life you have - so many stories!
Well truth be told in my younger days I both worked and played hard and although there were lottsa high and enjoyable points in my life there were also absolute bottomless lows.

I have aready succumbed to the lure of DiY after the first day when I mixed my chocolate and my hazelnut purchases! Just beginning to play with it now so a lot of what I am doing is just mixing something simple like my DIY caramel with bought cappuccino & chocolate ... But I definitely see the appeal! Very nice also to be able to tweak the nic or PG:Vg ratio of a bought juice.

LOLLL WTG and that's the way it started for me.

It's all your choice but maybe put the banner up so you can see how many analogs you've roughly avoided ...you shouldn't be so hard on yourself and you need to give yourself credit for the great strides you've made. I've been clean and sober for awhile and I believe the main reason I couldn't do it in the beginning was because I was so focused on perfection. I won't give you details and it certainly wasn't "perfection" but I eventually got to where I wanted to be.
I'm vaping 2 mg X 15 ml per week but if I need 8 or even 10 mg I have no hesitation in using it. If I vape more than 15 ml per week on occasion it's no big deal. Was supposed to stop vaping last New Years...didn't happen and I'm not bothered in the least cuz I know I'm better off than I was 1 1/2 yrs ago.
Perfection for me is, and always will be, taking baby steps and giving myself credit for those accomplishments.

My phone pushed an email, and though I watching a great oldy, had to respond to this. That's human spirit right there Dan!!!! We all strive for perfection in one way or another, otherwise society wouldn't be near what it is. I like the point of view by Joe Rogan, watch his comedy special on netflix if you can. I used to hate this man with a passion when I was in my UFC days, ...... me off to no end (he was like the jerry "king" lawler of ufc) but after I watched his "comedy" (I use quotations because it shouldn't be comedy but more like common sense, lost art), he won me over big time. Watch it, dl or whatever you have to do, he has another one called talking monkeys in space which was a Spike tv special but can be down loaded. From what I know about you, I think you'd appreciate his views. And also Titus Devolution (I know this one is on you tube), there really isn't enough of this out there. If we never strode for perfection, there would be no sky scrapers, no farmed meat, no .... all. I personally love my "lows", they showed me parts of the world I wouldn't have know otherwise. You are a man of experience, and as for your little buddy's out back, I can't help but feed the little .......'s too ;)

Oh funniest story ever.... The over grown choc lab in my avatar hated squirrels, like any lab but this is the only time she would actually bark and stand her hair on her back up. So this one day she was chasing this big (I'm going to say kangaroo squirrel for the size and way he moved) across the yard, and of course this guy could climb our stucco and out run her no problem. Well this particular day he was not too graceful and fell out of the tree she chased him up. Funniest thing I've ever seen, he landed right in front of her and neither one knew what to do. They looked at one another in a panicked stance for a couple seconds, and both turned around and ran for their lives lol. It's that whole saying about how she wouldn't know what to do with it if she caught it.....for all the back flips and wrecked knees trying to catch these these things, wouldn't harm a hair on it's head. Damn labs, so freaking adorable

LOLLLLL they got us all wrapped around their finger. This a.m. they must have brought family in for March break- at least 30 of the critters just sitting patiently in the tree.

No I haven't watched it. Always thought of him as arrogant until I found out he was heavily into Martial Arts and then it all made sense. If I can free up some bandwidth I certainly will watch it. Thank you. Right now watching lots of Aussie and Brit TV. Did you know you can get access to U.S. Netflix for an extra $6 per month. Can also get some free U.S. stuff for free :D

I agree wholeheartedly and also treasure the lows...life would be so depressing if it were all highs. I have a friend - long story short his life is all highs/ no lows and has no purpose. Trying to get him motivated before he falls apart.

Hey I LOVE the Title cuz it's a "remember when" for me and reinforces why so many of us spend time here. It's like reading a novel and the beginning is the lows and here we are at the highs- doesn't get much better than that.
