It's small step up in price, but worth to be able to go all day on one fill. Stainless steel cartomizers can be punched and used in tanks, so you can vape for the same price.

I have not yet figured out how this kind of setup works, including how/why you must punch the cartos.

it isn't just your newness/equipment...it is the current nature of the vaping beast.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...er-veterans-still-have-discouraging-days.html

I'm not trying to be discouraging at all i just don't want you to think "when i get XYZ or do this instead of this..it will be awesome!" because you will still have days that are annoying...i'm having a few of those days strung together and i wish that buying something new would solve it...it won't LOL

i do know that even my most frustrating/tasteless vaping days are better than even one hit off of a cigarette (and i loved smoking LOL)
after vaping....you know that nastiness you got from frying the carto....that is what smoking tastes like...maybe worse. no joke.

hang in there :)

There are lots of good comments on this thread, and I hope they help. I've been vaping now going on 2 years, and I ONLY vape ONE flavor. All day, every day. Have since time out of mind. I smoked menthol cigarettes over 40 years. Now I vape menthol. That's it. So it's not "boredom" when my taste goes wonky. There are lots of factors involved. If you want to switch flavors, that's fine. But you don't really "have" to...because while it might help, that's not really what is going on.

Pretty much the same with the delivery devices...whether the thing that holds the juice itself or the thing that has the power to heat up the juice in the thing that's holding it. Get the best quality you can manage, and if variable voltage is useful to you due to changing flavors a lot...that's great. But there is no magic bullet what voltage is "best" for everyone. And there is no magic bullet what juice holder device is right, or what ohm it has that is "best" for all.

It sounds like you hit on something that you found really enjoyable. The sudden change where the flavor was "gone" can be due to lots of factors that have NOTHING to do with the device or the juice you are using. Stress. Hunger. Being tired. A very strong flavor you just ate. A headache, or other body aches. Anger. Depression. Tension. Thirst (recognized or not). Cigarette taste has the same phenomenon as the PV. The difference was that one knew that the cigarette they had was, well...what it was. There was no expectations that it could be improved upon by purchasing some other version. Yes...you could change brands. But, be honest...did you really change brands daily? Or weekly? No. You just smoked on a brand for however long, no matter that sometimes it didn't taste that great. When the price went up, or you just felt like you wanted to try another brand, THEN you might change. Otherwise...you smoked what you had and didn't think about it. With vaping you know there are options. Therein is the temptation to fall into "searching for the perfect vape". It's one thing to have a hobby. It's another thing to keep buying things because you might think the next thing might be the solution to the periodic doldrums your tastebuds may be suffering.

I have found a delivery system/s that works for me. But I don't expect it to always taste exactly the same every time, even though my juice is exactly the same, and the device is exactly the same. The reason I like my bottom feeders is the long battery life, and I can carry between 4 and 9 ml. of juice with me in a compact package and vape without worry for many hours...or a whole day. But..yes. During any given day things will taste "off". Or hardly taste at all. Or seem too harsh. Or something. And when I stop and think about it...I can usually pinpoint was is REALLY going on. I'm tired. Or hungry. Or ticked off at my husband. Or worried. Something. It will pass. Taking a little break from vaping (a nap, or a shower, something to eat, or a run around the block) will usually jog things back in working order again.

For really bad cases...a 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda mixed into about 6oz. of water. Rinse the water/soda mix in your mouth and spit. Repeat until it's gone (don't drink it!) That can help clear your tastebuds again.

So:

* Switch flavors from time to time
* Keep a drip tip handy to overcome the occasional "muted" flavors that are inevitable
* Pay better attention to battery/battery life
* Understand that variances are normal and don't let them be a big deal
* Try different types of tanks: Cartos, clearos, top coil, bottom coil, etc
* Different flavors deliver a different taste and quality depending on alllll the variables above (What fun)

Am I getting it?

PS:

I switched from a creamy coffee flavor (my ADV) to a fruity one and it seems to be a little better for now. I'll probably be in love with my mocha coffee when I go back to it later. Unless my battery is dying by then. *Sigh*

Remember when you said you were set for a good long time with purchases. The problem of buying allot of cheap thing is you just spent allot of money on some ok preforming stuff. For about the same money you could of got some better quality stuff. This is just My opinion but Id rather have 1 or 2 good quality reliable preforming Items than a whole drawer full of cheap stuff.

Not exactly, you need a dripping atomizer and a drip tip. I like the 306, but you need a 306 drip tip for them. Dripping atomizers are also good for trying out new flavors before committing them to a tank or clearo.

Personally, I think you should get a carto tank setup. Because they are very consistent when setup properly. There is a learning curve, but it's not bad. Read up in the Tank sub-forum and check out Baditude's blogs.

Finally, it sounds like you only have one battery. Bad Bad Bad. You should always have at the least backups for your backups. I hope Fastech is sending you some. It solves a lot of the worry of waiting for a battery to charge. Plus, what happens when that one battery breaks or quits working?

Good luck in your journey!

This is an activity where what you don't know may not kill you but it will most assuredly cost you a ton of money, frustration, dehydration and sore throats. lol

FourthRok: That was an exceptional post. Thank you for taking the time to write it.

Almost everyone goes threw it. Its pretty much inevitable. You might not end up with a Mod and building your own coils but you seem like a pretty enthusiastic vapor so I give you less than a year before your considering a Provari and thinking about RBAs or genys or something.

If I could see for crap or had any more coordination in my hands left, I'd be into modding and building and tinkering YESTERDAY, but I don't anymore. Someone made a pretty snide comment about my random twisting of the eGo but the truth is that I can't read the numbers with either set of glasses on. (Yes, I probably need new glasses) So, I twist and taste until it works.

I'm undecided if I'll continue to vape for more than 6 months or so. That's about how long it will take for me to be relatively certain I've kicked a 30 yr habit and even then my plan is to keep my stuff for those cravings I know will come along, even after the 6 month mark. I might be such an enthusiast that I vape anyway but who knows. Part of me would like to know what it's like not to be addicted to anything at all, as foreign a concept as that is to me.

I think that was me with the snide comment, but I didn't mean it that way. I promise. I'm sorry if it made you feel bad. I thought you were being funny when you said you twisted it at random, so I was trying to be funny back. That's why I put a ;) on there. I apologize for sounding snarky.

I second or third the recommendation for carto tanks. They are the most hassle free and consistent delivery device I have found. As someone above said, there is a bit of a learning curve, and you'll probably burn a few in the process. I know I ruined a fe before I got a technique that worked for me, and now I never burn one, never have gurgling or leaking. Well, almost never. If you PM me I would be glad to send you a homemade carto tank and a few punched boge cartomizers.

Now, see, I wasn't going to rat you out with your deep-seated hatefulness and need to make fun of semi-blind old people but since you did it yourself. . . ;) Honestly, the smiley/wink wasn't noticed but no worries either way. I just remember thinking, "oh fine, make fun of the old blind chick. Don't you worry, I'm waiting in the tall grass for your ...... "

*Wink* *smile* *wink* *smile* lol

Offer appreciated and if you SWEAR I'm not going to kill myself or burn down my house I'm happy to take the many recommendations to try a carto again. I kept mine in my little vape container as a reminder that I'm a doofus but.. I'll try.
