It seems like vaping hardware is extremely inconsistent and clones run rampant. I've learned that ViVi Nova clones are hit and miss. I have one good one and one bad one. Now the good one isn't working so well. The bad one has been rebult, but still only works OK. I also purchased a Vision version which was very good for a few days, but now has an odd flavor. Even my Kanger clearos taste is inconsistent thorough similar models. I'm getting so frustrated with the hardware that I'm tempted to give up and that is after lots of reading on this forum. I have to assume others aren't as patient as me, nor as willing to tinker.

I'm kind of frustrated, because I want all of my hardware to work well all the time. Is it because we are relying on China for all of the manufacturing? Or is it that hard to get a piece of hardware to vaporize juice consistently?

For the last few weeks, I've fallen asleep with my Vamo & ViVi Nova. The last two nights, nothing is tasting right no matter which clearo I use. I'm spending more time fixing stuff then vaping. All of my hardware is no more then 3 weeks old.

Have you tried a cartotank? They are a lot more consistent than a clearo from my experience and pretty hassle free. Also if you dont mind what are you using for a battery?

Agreed ! If you want consitancy, A good quality carto Tank like an IBTanked or Phiniac Tank and to go in them, in my opinion either some Smok Cartomizers or Ikenvapes when you can get them. Get single coil and two hole lazer punched cartos.

Go to Baditudes blogs to see instructions and tips on how to fill etc...

I would say the China origin is a smaller part of this than it seems. The issue is, these parts are extremely low cost, quite small, and fairly simplistic. No matter where they were made, these issues would probably be popping up, or prices would rise significantly. Our devices have no active feedback to account for variances in performance from coil to coil, so you sort of get what you get.

The devices operate within a certain range by default, and that's just the nature of it at this time.

I will be giving carto tanks a try. You think this will end my frustration? I hope so, because I like vaping, but I hate realizing something isn't working properly on the way to work. Then, I have to wait until I get home to fix it.

The last time I quit vaping was due to hardware problems. The technology has clearly improved in that time, but I am still surprised with the inconsistency.

In terms of consistency, mech mods with a genesis atty are great.

Clones or not, there's not much that can go wrong with them if set up properly.

To speak a little more broadly: rebuildable atomizers are the only way to ensure consistency. This is so because YOU are more likely to put in the time to get things performing the way you like than someone who wraps wick and coil on an assembly line.

Granted, things will be inconsistent at first as you're learning but, once you figure out a build and how to troubleshoot your builds, a pretty darn consistent vape is very achievable.

If you're looking for more-or-less plug-and-play options, some inconsistency is unfortunately unavoidable. Prebuilt coils (whether in an atomizer or a cartomizer) are wrapped by hand afaik, and hands make mistakes. Even more likely when the hands belong to someone who may not really care.

If you need it done right...

awe genghishan said exactly what I was thinking.

For me consistency is building my own coils on any device I use. So, for the most part whether it's a clone of a vivi nova head or the actual vivi nova head (I don't purposely buy clones but I may have bought one once) it works exactly the way I want it to cuz I rebuild the head. Same with my dripping attys.

It would be nice if there was an easy peasy set up that you didn't have to do anything with in order for it to always be perfect. But I have not found one in the almost 2 years I've been vaping.

I guess a lot of people are big fans of cartos & tanks so this might be something you like. Me personally, I am not a big fan of cartos as I can't stand tasting that filler (and that always happens to me). Maybe your experience will be better than mine though.

Clearos have polycarbonate tanks which degrades and breaks down with some juices, Let's make a list of juices/flavors that crack tanks, ce2's/clearos.... A plastic taste and leaking clearos are symptoms of a clearo that has been used with tank cracking juices. You might want to try a Kanger Pro Tank which has a glass tube rather than a polycarbonate one.

It is not unusual for the head a vivo nova to to get clogged up with enough crud to for the taste to be off in a couple of days. A lot depends on the juice you are vaping. Some liquids will clog the head in a matter of hours. Others like clear fruit flavors may last for weeks. The solution is to replace the heads when the flavor is off or to burn them. Or you can try different juice.

You really should pick some silica wick and some 32 gauge Kanthal. You can rebuild heads for your clearos. That way, if one starts to crap out, you can just replace it.

Don't get me wrong, rebuilding is not necessarily easy, but silica is a great wicking material. It gives you a lot of room to make coils work that may not be wrapped the best.
