Working my way to a higher NS/water percentage... Since we're all a bunch of mad scientist types... Thought I'd share my latest formula with you.

I'm allergic to PG and full VG is so thick and leaves an awful coating in your mouth, so I've decided to brew up something divine!

Experiment #1: incorporating NS and water into base.

Immediate Results:
3/29/17 - Epipe set to soft; increased watts to 22.5; nice, soft white billows; barely tepid tempt; No leaking, so far.

VG 61%
Normal Saline 18%
Distilled H2O 15%

Peach (LA) 1%
Watermelon (LA) 5%

Okay, so it's been a day and I'm loving the flavor still and the white plumes of vape are satisfying at only 23 watts, but the noise of the popping from the liquid heating up is beginning to bother me... Not sure if I'm going to add a little more VG to help eliminate the problem or not... I still woke up this morning with a bit of a sore tongue, too. That may just be a behavior thing. I'm going to have to moderate my puffing in the evening. I do love my vape :) and go at it fairly continuously in the evening...

Unless the Goal is to make an e-liquid for Maximum Clouds, many people who DIY add a small amount of H2O to their Mixes.

Adding some water can Greatly improve the Wicking of a High VG e-Liquid. And Many feel it helps Flavors for getting that Meh Chemical taste that some flavors can get at. It also can Prolong coil life.

The Downside, as you noticed, is when you add Too Much, you can get a Lot of Popping and Spitting.

I think it's the NS (normal saline) that's adding to the flavor for me. I've always had a preference for salty/creamy over sweet. I was most surprised by the amount of clouds though. At only 25 watts, I get all the cloud I want.

I was under the impression that Normal Saline contained Sodium and that was not supposed to be vaped. I do not add water to my High or MAX VG mixes but those who do I believe use DW or Distilled Water. Maybe you could elaborate or provide a little more insight?

I have made 100% by using VGD Flavorings but it was just a tad too think so I relented and increased the PG because I can tolerate it and depending on the flavor depends on if I go with 80/20 or 70/30. Never going to add water unless it is in a flavoring.

Why would one want to add water to a flavoring? Why not just use less?

The flavor contains water as they use it in the manufacturing of it. The VGD or VG Dominant flavors are made for people with PG allergies or intolerance. I just can't tolerate the TH you get and want a smooth cool vape even when I Sub Ohm in TC at 100 Watts!

Duh! I didn't think about water being a part of the flavoring!

That is one reason I really like Liquid Barn flavors because each one has an FDS or a Flavor Data Sheet telling you what is in each and every one. Back when Diacetyl was in flavors I steered way clear. But now that is basically a non-issue.

I use distilled water at ~15% and normal saline (NS) at about 15%. The combination works great. I get that very slight salt flavor which suits me. Just seems to enhance whatever flavor I'm vaping. As far as medical concerns about vaping no more than 15% NS, from what I've been reading most if not all fluid bases for breathing treatments have NS as part of the vehicle that carries the medicine such as Albuterol. Look up NS nebulizer treatments.
