What I found most troubling is Dr. Ford's statement:

The other piece is that many of them contain nicotine, which is highly addictive, so while it may not be a tobacco issue, it's certainly an addiction issue.

Really? Thanks, but no thanks, lady. I'm an adult and neither want, nor need a nanny to dictate what I can or can't be "addicted" to. And what's next? I'm addicted to caffeine/coffee too. Are they going to decide that's under their jurisdiction? What about addiction to sugar? It's a slippery slope we're on here. It's just that the masses don't realize it yet.

The potential to develop a dependence on nicotine is certainly one reason many people are unable or unwilling to completely stop using tobacco products, but it is far from the only reason that adults choose to smoke cigarettes.

Addiction is only considered a disease if it continues in spite of negative health effects to the user and/or others. With no reason to even expect it to be POSSIBLE for a battery powered fog machine to harm bystanders, much less any proof that anyone has been harmed, who really cares if some percentage of the population continues to enjoy tobacco products that are smoke-free? Only those who depend on tax revenue of cigarette sales or sales of drugs to treat chronic diseases that are caused or worsened by continued smoking: Big Pharma and the so-called "non-profit" so-called "public health" organizations like the American Society for Cancer and the Campaign for Tobacco-free drugmakers.

UPDATE

I spoke to Commissioner May's assistant -- the bill has actually been referred to the County Operations & Public Safety Committee because changes still need to be made to the bill. The COPS Committee meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 1 PM, but according to the DeKalb clerk, that meeting for June 14th has been canceled.

I'm e-mailing the Committee members to get confirmation that the bill will not come before the full Commission or the COPS Committee for a vote on Tuesday.

If that's the case, the hearing to go to would be the COPS meeting on June 28th at 1 PM. That would be before 3 legislators (Barnes, May, and Gannon) and we'd obviously need to convince 2 of them that the definition of smoking should be amended.

I'll keep you posted.

Seems as if, in this case, attempted indoor ban of e-cig use not necessarilily failed mostly due to arguments presented by vapers. Nonetheless, it remains the secret of the alphabet crowd what e-cigs have to do with their officially stated motivation [“Sarah Balog of the American Heart Association says it is known that exposure to second hand smoke strongly increases non-smoker cancer risks.”]

US Weather Service has just announced to comply and released its final foggy picture.
