Oh, which Subtank replacement glass fits the MT? A link from FT would be great as I don't know one Subtank from another. I'm going to take advantage of the FT 20% off sale Fri to order all the replacement glass I need for attys since I don't care if it takes a month or more for that to arrive.
What's the deal with this 20% off Sale? That would be a good time for me to stock up on Clapton wire and tfv4 coils

For anyone doing this swap, for the love of god, drill/tap for the 510 in lieu of spending an hour dremeling the original 510 slot out from inside.

I replaced mine with black as shown in that link.
I think I will look into that. The 510 is the only thing I don't like about my RXs. Thank you.

Thank you so much @roxynoodle, I'm sure the wife is gonna be real happy with me when I spend $100 on tfv4 coils and Clapton wire.

At least I won't have to buy tfv4 coils for a long @$$ time

You wouldnt happen to have a pic or 28 of the process of tearing it apart and replacing that 510 do you? I was thinking gut the box, then use the step bit I normally use for mounting 510 in Hammond boxes...

They have the dual Clapton 5 pack for 17 and the the new quad dual Clapton 5 pack for 19.
My local shop sells the new quad dual Clapton coils for 28 a 5 pack.

$16 for the tf-t8 5 pack is a deal. I'm going on 9 days now with the dual Clapton and flavor is amazing still. I've got a 5 pack of quad coils and a sextuple coil I haven't used yet so I'll be set til the new coils arrive. I know it's gonna be a while since the Chinese new year is coming up but I'm good to go.

I'm gonna buy 6 packs of coils and with how long they last I won't have to buy another coil til august of 2017 lol. By then I'm sure they'll have the octuple quad parallel fused Clapton coils out. Thanks again roxy

I wish I had more money to take advantage of the sale, but it is what it is. My big start of the year deductible for my meds went up to $355 from $210. My extremely long lived truck battery said, "its been nice knowing you, but its time for me to go", and my furnace pooped out.

So my FT list looks like this: Train RTA for $14.40, glass for Griffin, HIGO, Billow v2 and MT if the Subtank glass works. Maybe a drip tip or two.

I took a few pictures, but it was a late impatient night. There may be a few more in the RX200 thread.

My suggestions/tips (NOTE: I didn't do any of these things, but REALLY wished I had):

1. Unsolder the leads going to the chip to remove it fully. Trust me, it makes things 1000x easier.
2. If you're going to use the step bit and mount it like in a hammond box, keep in mind that the stock 510 on these isnt actually "held" in place. There is a little slot beneath the hole in the box that the 510 slides into. Thus, why I suggest doing the drill/tap method and skip the 510 nut. I did NOT get a smooth surface when I used the dremel method, which pushed the nut down too far, causing me to need to trim a TON of the battery tray away around the nut.
3. You will have to remove a little material from the top of the 510 space on the enclosure. TAPE THE ENTIRE TOP OF THE BOX OFF! I didnt do this to mine and have score marks all over.
4. Since you're going to unsolder the chip anyway, I suggest upgrading the gauge of some of the smaller wires. They are tiny tiny flimsy wires. Also, make them a little longer which will ease you in re-installing everything. I broke one during my process.
5. If you wanted to paint/wrap the enclosure or panels, DO IT WHILE IT'S APART. I really wish that I had at least painted mine to touch up the score marks while it was apart, but I'm too damn impatient.

In the grand scheme of things, with the right planning, time, patience, and prep work, it's a SUPER easy swap. I went into it completely blind at 1am on a Sunday night. Best of luck!

I always feel like looking for good drip tips on FT overwhelming, and never end up getting any from them. I should take advantage of the sale, and stock up on some accessories as well.

It is overwelming. When I see ones I like now I put them in my wishlist.

Otherwise it helps to search by material or color. Search "teflon drip tip", or "resin drip tip" or "black drip tip".
