Got my MT built last night with dual 24ga, 2.5mm, 9 wraps coming in at 3.7 ohms. So far, I'm loving it! No leaks and great flavor/clouds. Got one nasty dry hit last night after I upped the wattage and took a couple of really long pulls. I really packed the cotton in there to fill the juice channels, so I'm thinking I might have choked the coil. I'll probably rewick soon with less cotton and see if it lets me pound on it without going dry. Besides that, my only real complaint is that the threads on the top cap to the inner atomizer chamber are a bit fussy to catch, and the tank glass is kinda thin, but those are minor quibbles. Thanks to all for the reviews and tips! I'm happy! :)

What I found best for wicking was for coils that are 3mm wide, I cut a strip of KGD that is about twice the width of my coils, take the outer skins off (no clue if this does anything, its just my method to my madness), and gently roll it on my pants to make it a loose log. thread through the coil... Now here is where its different from MOST rda's, I have to have the cotton kinda tight in the coil.... then I wet the wick in the coil and about 3/4 inch past it both ways. using a bent paperclip I poke and prod the wet wick into the juice slots until they stay and I can thread the top on over the Deck. Snip the wicks about 1/16th or just a smidgen longer from the juice wells and then gently poke them back so they are flush with the edges of the holes. screw on the glass portion and fill it up. Haven't had a leak or dry hit when doing it this way.
Here's the post @DagMatt

I've been running 90vg at 80 watts on dual Clapton's. Wish I could be happy vaping at 50 watts, my batteries would last all day

Hey bman, what build are you using to be able to run it up to 80 watts? I like a warmer vape but can't seem to get above 50 watts without dry hits.

I do 3mm 6 wrap Clapton coils. 26g core with 32g wrapped around it. I tried regular 24 gauge kanthal and it doesn't do it for me. The vapor isn't dense or warm enough for me.

I started on a rda and mech mod so I'm use to building a .08 ohm dual parallel coil.

.08 with kanthal you are a superhero! My IPV4:vapor:S will only let me go to .1ohm

I haven't gotten any confirmation if the the Kanger subtank mini glass fits the Mutation MT RTA or not, so I ordered one up.
It DOES fit. But is the tiniest hair loose as you can spin the glass. However it does NOT leak.

3mm id 26g ni60 -32kanthal 5wrap @ 0.31ohm @93watts all day long or SS316 24g 7wrap on the parallel box you see here.

I just wish the deck could be accessed without draining and the black finish was better. Other than that this tank kills it on vapor and flavor.

Also, idk if you guys may know or not but there is essentially v2 called the "mutank" on the way.
This addresses a few issues such as revised screws, dual hole top file, replaceable deck and coils etc.

@Bman123 when's surgery?
I get a discogram this Friday to see which disc needs fused, my follow up isn't til December 2nd so hopefully it's after Christmas. Which still sucks because my birthday is January 10th and I'll be out of it on my birthday but oh well it has to happen.

I've been trying to make loads of juice so when my friends need it I don't have to make it, just fill bottles

I just rebuilt mine, used 22g 5 spaced wraps on a 3.2mm Mandrel, dual coils came out to .2 ohms. used a little less cotton as I was getting a almost dry cottony taste on long pulls or after a bunch of pull in a row. Still more cotton that you would use in a dripper, but not to much. running it at 75 watts on my Raptor mod I made and it is NICE! when I spaced out the coils I made sure they were opened up just to the edges of the air holes in the deck.

Its funny, even after numerous cotton tasting pulls on the old setup when I took it apart the cotton wasnt burnt at all. Thinking I was right at the edge of burning it but just not quite. This is definitely better. I wanted to build with 24G, but I found that I only had about 3 inches left on my spool... So I use my 22G.

So as it sits now, 22g 5 wrap 3mm no space was good. 26G dual parallel 3mm was a touch better. but 22g 5 wrap 3.2mm spaced is the beez kneez!

One thing I have noticed is that when I wick, I leave the tail out of the holes at the bottom of the juice channels and then trim them to just a touch from the edges and poke them back in flushish. when I would put the glass and its bottom seal back on it would invariably twist the cotton a bit as the seal and glass rotated. This time I took the bottom seal off the glass and put it into its groove in the deck and then built and wicked the thing and didn't poke the cotton back in. when I put the glass on it didn't move the cotton around at all and this allows the fibers to still be straight. not sure if it really makes any difference, but so far I haven't gotten a cottony taste yet and I ran it up to 85 watts earlier.
