Dagnabbit! I was thinking about doing the exact same thing, external wick with a vertical coil over the air tower. Works, huh? Sweet!

Ok, folks, as some of you will recall, I decided to buy myself a Christmas present last year. I wanted a top-drawer European mech mod with a hybrid atomizer. Without going into all the comparisons and agonizing or the vast quantity of curses directed toward the entire nation of Greece from Pericles forward since they were having an economic crisis and I couldn't get Metal Madness Vapors to build me the atty I wanted, I eventually settled on a Fakir's Mods FX-22 with the 18650 tube plus a spare 350 tube, and their Troy 2 atomizer; all made in Ankara, Turkey. I ordered it Christmas eve, knowing I would be out of town over the holiday and I didn't want it sitting in the mailbox. Little did I know it would come across the Atlantic by rowboat, and not get delivered until last week. Today, I have finally had time to put a build in it.
The mod and the atomizer are both convertible from 510 to hybrid; the mod by removing the top cap and the atty by removing the 510 adapter:

So, I built her up. The atty is a medium air, and plainly intended for vertical coils and Genny-type stainless wicks. I ordered some mesh-- it got here about a month before the machine-- but I decided to save that adventure for a later day. Still, she's not a big air, super cloud thing, so I built here 28ga Kanthal, sorta a 10/9-1/4 wrap-- the legs came out at a 90 degree angle, not parallel or opposed-- for .95Ω, and she's horseshoe wicked rayon, about 20% or a rope because she's on a 2mm mandrel.

One problem she has is with a battery in the tube, there's about a .7mm gap between the tube and the atty base. I think I will have to grind a mm off the top of the positive adjustment screw to get it to tighten up:

On the whole, I am very pleased. I want to rebuild her in the .8ish range, I think. And I am eager to try the SS mesh wicks

My kanthal claptops get rusty looking after a while.
Just to give an update on the blue slushy at 17%....still a dripper flavor for us both. The juice is about 9 days old so far. Ive not used it in anything but my velocity and flavor is good. My other half has had it in her mutank the last two days with the 2x28/1x.5 ribbon I twisted up Sunday. The smell from the tank is freaking great. Can almost taste the juice as I inhale her cloud. Sadly the flavor from the tank on inhale/exhale for us both is just not there. Next batch I may bump to 20% and thin it down with some pg instead of going max vg with it to see if that helps.
Are you using just blue slushy? I added a little vanilla whipped cream and a dash of greek yogurt to one of my bottles of it (30ml bottle, .7ml each of van whipped and yogurt) and it made it even better. I used Vanilla Bean Ice Cream in one bottle but added to much, it started overpowering the slushy...
Slushy and cotton candy. Dont think anything else I have would go to well and since I'm not allowed to order any more flavors currently, it'll just have to be a dripper flavor for now. But I'll show her your post and see if I can "have permission" lol. Sucks working 54 hrs a week and not being able to do as I please with the money haha.
In all fairness though, the $20 premade bottle we bought that started the trying to make it tankable was the same way. I forget which brand it was but it was good in the dripper but in a tank the flavor just wasnt there too. Different tank so I dont think it's a tank/build issue. Which was part of why I put tiger wire in the tanks this time to reference with the velocity as close as possible.

So vaping gave him hypothyroidism? What a crock of ...., this guy came in and banked hard off of people. His own juice line not to mention probably getting paid by companies to do reviews since he has so many subscribers and hits on his videos. Plus the money he makes from youtube.

Ikr, march 16 will be a year for me. Used to watch his review videos to have an idea of the hardware. Reading through the comments on fb they are saying he took the vid down but yeah, crock of shiz indeed.
I'm not positive yet, but I've been told by a valid source he charges $500 for a review. I bet he got more for that one.
I think at the end it was "stillblowingsmoke.org". All those nay sayers are gonna run with that like mad.
I'm sure he charges $ for reviews, on top of YouTube paying him he's making bank. Then that video right there, knowing it's going to wreck any credibility he has, he had to of got a really fat check for that one.

Wouldnt surprise me. My girl and I used to laugh at his antics in the vids. Then it got annoying so we watched with the volume off lol.
