You can vary voltage and get the same result :) The SX boards annoy me with the joules thing as I know perfectly well they're using the wrong units of measure. But maybe Yihi was just smarter than Wismec and saw this coming.
Variable joules :)

It occurs to me it's a lot easier to build a variable voltage mod than VW. VV can be done with analog circuits-- Hexohm, anyone?-- but wattage requires digital ICs because you have to calculate V^2/R. VV won't yield TC in that config, but it works just fine in power mode. And an analog VV mod could include a teeny-weeny el cheapo 4 bit processor to display applied watts. Even TC could be done using an analog VV firing circuit if it were controlled by a digital circuit that measured Vin and Vout. Might skate with nothing more than a comparator, 7401 maybe. I'm no EE, but this really does seem fixable.

Rarely do I actually use temp control but I will say every time I swap tanks from the rx and 3li it reminds why I poclet the rx while the 3's sit on my desk as alternate flavors in between my work day. May have to work on my bosses car soon and use some of the money for a spare rx and a boreas then stash the rest...

No, they were forced to change it because Evolv fired up lawsuit threats against them last spring. As soon as they saw Yihi planned to one up them with the sx350j vs DNA40.

It has the wrong unit for that reason :(

I had this idea for a really cute box mod I wanted to build for my woman, a Zebrawood box with an inset Bloodwood heart. I was planning on using a DNA40 board in it-- she rarely sees 40 watts-- but I now think an SX350, or even a 350J, would be in order. I believe I shall put Evolv in the Efest box and prefer not to do business with them.

I did a long time ago. When the DNA40 first came out I bought 6 boards. Only 2 worked. They would not take them back. So I have refused to buy anything else with their boards.

Do tell. The 3li is a great box.

It definitely is a great box. Both the 3 li's and 3's I have have taken a beating. Its in the power department they lack compared to the rx. I have to increase the 3's by 10-15 w higher then the w on rx which is to be expected with one less battery. All 3 of "mine" are used every day. Just the rx is in my pocket while away from my desk at work. My girl has shelved her 3 and 3 li in favor of her rx though.

Yep. Most 200w mods won't be getting near 200w. Thing is the market wants to see that number, so that's what they put on it. Same with 80w and 90w mods. Any 2 batt 18650 mod I consider a 130w max mod 20a batts, with vtc 30a add another 40w. I only go from 30-60w with the types of coils I build, so I'm good.

I'll admit I havent really looked at the 5 much. With the vape budget crunch the less I look at the less I'm tempted to buy lol. Still a 200w 2 batt ipv though right?
Vape budget can wait when you have to convert the room by the end of school for the precious cargo!
