I've been eyeing the Lavatube with the "4 amp limit" but want to know if something else exists that is a near equivalent? Would like the voltage to go up & down 0.1v increments, no stacked batteries, inexpensive, somewhat durable, but don't need a lcd readout, ohms, battery, voltage check since my tastebuds is all I think I need. The EGO-C twist is something like it, but it is a battery and unit all rolled into one correct? Being able to replace a battery for around $10 is also what I'm looking for too. I got a VV passthrough but it has only 4 settings and would also be nice to be portable.

For a non stacked VV on a budget the Lavatube is about it. If you want to go with a drop in module the Kick works in quite a few tube but you'll have to wait till they get stocked and when they do jump on it, it's popular. I've got one with the Bolt and works great for a low cost, no frills solution.
The Silver Bullet with a Kick would do it. You need an 18500 cell instead of the usual 18650 cell for it. They might be doing an extension so you can use an 18650 plus the Kick.
NHaler also do this - the XHaler XL model with a Kick. It's longer than the standard model, and uses an 18650 plus a Kick. It's a 100% mechanical APV with a lifetime warranty. All you have to watch out for is that the top end is not sealed, and you WILL kill the Kick unless you use a solid 510-to-510 shorty adapter, to stop leaks going down into it.
If you do that it's probably one of the best VV solutions unless you somehow need monster power. The APV itself has very little that can go wrong, and if the Kick dies, you could just put a spacer in until you get another Kick. These kind of things are limited to about 10 watts but that's enough for many people. Also some heads are murder if you run them over about 4.8 volts, unless you have asbestos lungs - some of the clearos and DC cartos only need about 33% up on the scale with the Kick, the rest of the power is way too much.

I like the Vision Tox v3 (the one with the new metal control head), The v1 and v2 left a bad taste in peoples mouths (figuratively, not literally) but the v3 is great, plus it comes with tubes for 18350, and 18500, and theres the optional tube for 18650 now. I've been using mine for a week now and have no complaints at all.
The LT has been good to me. And I am on a V.1. The new ones would be awesome I think for the price!

The bat on an ego twist is replaceable. You just buy another one for about $20-$30. Phil Busardo has a great review up today about the Twist.
I don't know about durable because it's plastic and has a rocker bottom but the Ovale V8 Incremental VV Body - Black uses two 18350's side by side (tight fit if protected batts are used). It's $30, incrementally adjustable and has an LED. I bought it because I already have the batts for my Gripper.
I have grown to like it but I haven't learned to put it thru it's paces yet. I haven't gotten around to switching my tanks to different cartos to try different voltages.
