I don't remember anything being a problem when I first started here. I read the stickies, made my posts and moved foward. I am here to tell you that in this forum, I have met some of the nicest most supportive, generous, people I've ever met in my life time. I'm serious, you have a genuine need and these folks are here for you and really go the extra mile to help out. Yes there are other forums as you said but I can guarantee the quality and caliber of the people will not come close to these folks here on ecf. It's really simple. Follow the rules and move forward. I think it takes all of ten minutes to get the required posts. Really NOT a big deal!! I can tell you it's very much worth your time to do it. This is one of the greatest forums I've ever been on! The people here are jewels.I do hope you stay so you can see what I'm talking about.you might be able to find the same information elsewhere as you put it but you sure won't find the same people. And People Are WHAT Makes OR Breaks A forum. I really cherish these people here as they have helped me so much. Other forums are not the same. The choice is yours. But I don't see a problem with following a couple of rules. I do hope you stay and if you do I'd like to welcome you.

I never quite understand why everyone gets their shorts in a twist over 5 posts. It takes like 10 minutes tops. And IMHO it is a bit on the rude side to come to a new house and complain about the furniture. As the guy who used to run a forum on our local paper used to say--what's up with coming to my house and ...... on the floor.

I've been involved in establishing and building a fair few forums in recent years. All the processes used here are 100% valid and very effective. Would you rather they checked you out on sites like project honeypot and stopforumspam, and risk an instant ban just because your IP has been used previously for malicious purposes?? There is a hell of a lot more the admins here could do to vet new members - so just email verification and 5 posts is really quite trivial.

OP,
Once the 5 posts are over, you'll forget all about it.
Just reply to someone new & welcome them. You could share what equip. you use & share any questions or concerns.

Once you really explore ECF you'll see how crazy huge the amount of info here. Ask any question & you will get some answers.
Like if your equip. isn't working perfect, many will help you get the most out of it.
Plus it's really handy to get links to good vendors & such.

So, what's your equip? Do you like it? What juices do you like or dislike?

Welcome & good luck to you.

Honestly the 5 post thing is not a big deal in anyway. BUT in today's world of instant everything it appears to be a bigger issue than it really is. It's all about perspective. I find forums in general to be confusing and hard to navigate. I go to a forum and the first thing that pops into my mind is, "....., words EVERYWHERE!" lol But I realize that forums are the only way to really learn about any topic.

LOL, I too learned the rules by "lurking" for awhile. I think the whole reason I started to get involved was because of the classified requirments! Then I realized, hey, you live in a rural area without any friends who vape, why not share interactions with them instead of continuing to see that far off and glazed over look that would pop into my friends and families eyes as I tried to explain the difference between a cartoMIZER, atoMIZER, smiloMIZER, 510 connection or an 808, a mech and a regulated....all I know is they are all happyMIZERS now that I have a group of understanding individuals to share my newfound love of the vaping world with and I went back to sharing everything with them I used to except the stink of smoke! vape on, and hope you find your place here!
