Hi Vets!
I have been smoke free for just over 1 month and loving it! My husband was a smoker but hasn't smoked in almost 20 years (just cigars now on occasion). Ironically he was the product manager for Nicorette in Canada and helped enable it's OTC status. He was diagnosed with a benign hamartoma and had to have lung surgery about 15 years ago when they removed 1 lobe from his left lung. (docs think he had since birth and it just grew to obstruct the passage which made him suceptible to chronic pneumonia).
Prior to the surgery, he would have these horrible cough attacks that left him doubled over and gasping for air. He also had pneumonia that just wouldn't clear up despite multiple courses of antibiotic.
So now, 15 years later he still coughs and sometimes to the point where he almost can't breath. He does use an inhaler that is for asthma and is otherwise healthy.
I have been reading the studies where inhaled PG was used for patients with chronic bronchitis as well as it's germicidal properties (Time Magazine)
"How did it work? Respiratory disease bacteria float about in tiny droplets of water breathed, sneezed and coughed from human beings. The germicidal glycol also floats in infinitesimally small particles. Calculations showed that if droplet had to hit droplet, it would take two to 200 hours for sterilization of sprayed air to take place. Since sterilization took place in seconds, Dr. Robertson concluded that the glycol droplets must give off gas molecules which dissolve in the water droplets and kill the germs within them.
Dr. Robertson placed groups of mice in a chamber and sprayed its air first with propylene glycol, then with influenza virus. All the mice lived. Then he sprayed the chamber with virus alone. All the mice died."
and I am wondering what you think about having him vape pure PG only (NO NICOTINE) or an 80/20 blend.
Also just wanted to say thank you for all you do here on the forum. You are helping so many people with your guidance, warnings and attention which I believe is building a healthy moral community of vapers.
