Since I've only begun actually considering REBUILDING A COIL for the past few days...I continue to be a little cornfused with the CLR's.
If I were to buy a kayfun...I'd need to buy only one (plus some wire and wicking).
But the CLR's come in packs of five. Does each one come with a pre-built coil...(or wire...or wicking)...or something...that wears out leading to replacement with a new CLR???

The cheap price and the fact that they fit every tank they make is why I love the iSub coils and tanks. The iSub coils were actually cheaper than the Aspire coils that I was buying. The price for the iSub and the iSub G tanks were lower priced than most other sub-ohm tanks. The flavor, airflow, and vapor production were all superior to my Aspire tanks I have and tried too. But that's just my preference. Ten others might say the flavor from an Aspire tank is better.

I've thrown one iSub coil away so far, I soak them for a few days in Golden Grain 190 proof alcohol now ($20 in a Kentucky liquor store) then let them dry for a few days wrapped in a paper towel. I use just enough to cover the coil in the bottom of a shot glass, maybe a 5th or an 8th of a shot.

I get 2 to 3 weeks out of a iSub coil (.5 ohm) before it needs to be cleaned. I vape at 12w to 13w with the airflow wide open so my coils don't get badly cooked along with juices that aren't very dark so that probably has something to do with the relative ease that they clean up along with how long they last.

If they come out with a rebuildable coil then I might try it. But right now I can make the coils last for months and months. The coil I tossed started being used in June 2015, I finally threw it away last week. It has been rotating with a second coil since June so about 3 months of total use. With a $2 a piece price, that averages out to .66c a month. Maybe .10c in alcohol. And it takes a few seconds to pour the alcohol so I can't really count that. So around .76c a month, that's pretty cheap.

Anyone know how much they're spending for supplies and time per coil by going the rebuildable route?

I remember seeing a thread on frugal / budget vaping where people were figuring out daily costs. I don't know if it still exists on ECF. I have a feeling that a lot of people do keep an eye on their costs since that's a big reason why they get interested in rebuilding their coils in the first place. I know for me, costs were a reason why I looked into vaping at all. So it's a factor. I think it would be interesting to do a side by side comparison since coils have changed quite a bit.

I remember seeing a thread on frugal / budget vaping where people were figuring out daily costs. I don't know if it still exists on ECF. I have a feeling that a lot of people do keep an eye on their costs since that's a big reason why they get interested in rebuilding their coils in the first place. I know for me, costs were a reason why I looked into vaping at all. So it's a factor. I think it would be interesting to do a side by side comparison since coils have changed quite a bit.

Say I buy a TRON-S Tank and a 5-pack of CLR's.

Can I just stick a CLR head into the TRON-S and fire 'er up...or do I have to do something with the CLR first???

Later...the flavor/vapor decreases. It seems I can then "rebuild" the CLR. What, exactly, would I then have to do to get it working again???

yes, a very cool thing about the CLR
it is all set to vape (horizontal coil)

so just use it, then when you feel it’s failing
just GENTLY twist/pull cotton out, dry burn, slip new cotton in
keep doing that for maybe months & months…
(just as long as you don’t foul-up the coil wire when removing cotton)

.5Ω has big draw air hole
1.0Ω has a small tight draw

as an example:
I take the bottom pin out of the .5 and put it in the 1.0
that way I get big air but not so hot coil (works for me)

but ultimately, I build about 1.2Ω – 1.6Ω coils and use the .5 big hole center pin

then screw the ego one on my Innokin device

I just got the word that I won a Cool Fire 4 Plus Storm Edition. It comes with a white iSub G. I really hate tanks I can't build and I KNOW I saw, somewhere, a link to an iSub RBA. It's probably somewhere in this thread or over in the Itty Bitty Mods thread, but for the life of me, I cannot find it. I initially glossed over it as I did not own one, but everything's different now...
