Hey veterans! Got a question for ya.
I have a sleeper coil in my tobecco tobh clone. It's metering at .4 ohms sitting ontop of my nemesis with vtc5

I didn't torch before installing at all so I've been pulse firing it working the wraps to get it to glow right and inside my center post it glows red like the coil, soon as I hit button it will fire red inside post????
What's up with that?

Ok so in the process of this post I got it to stop but is this something I should be looking out for or worried about?

If the post gets hot first you would have a short. Since you say it's .4 ohms will assume it's not that. This would not happen if there is no short and you had a wick in it. I'd avoid long fires with out a wick at that wattage or you will fry the insulator. Make sure you have no hot spots. Hot spots near the post could do that and that no wire chip is on the center post. double check your resistance.

If you're building the sleeper coil like Rip Trippers does it you're using coil wraps that contact each other, or are very close. I think you had a hot spot like Jack NMI Stecker mentioned above. It takes a bit of heat to get an oxide layer on the surface of the Kanthal to insulate it where coils touch. Pulsing until that happens is the way to fix it.

Yes, you should watch for this and not wick the coils until the legs stop glowing. That hot section of coil where there is no wick will burn juice which you will taste and it's also not safe to inhale.

Vape on.
