Thanks pkj, I'm not worried about pretty. This stuff just seemed to come apart no matter how I tried to work it.

Might be a more delicate brand, I actually found the rounds to be the strongest of the cotton wools. It does take a minute to cut a thin strip and roll it between my fingers into the shape I want.

What i have noticed with the drunker is the wick needs a longer soak time having the juice farther away from the coil. It's running great with the rounds and nr legs now.

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone had tried using the bamboo crochet #10 in the Drunker?

I have been following many of the rba/RBT related threads for some time now and the one that mentions it is here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/284030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous.html .

Considering this for my Drunker, so far I have no like for cotton. It burns too easily and apparently I am less than patient.
Also considering using SS & Bamboo combination wicks. If anything good comes of it I will definitely share the results.

Thanks

What type of cotton did you try? Also how long did you let juice soak into the cotton before vaping it?

Whew! Tried working with this stuff this morning, and find that it's way too fragile for me. Just comes apart too easily. Maybe have to go on to something else.

I want to make sure I understand. You boil the rounds, q-tip ends, or any cotton that you're going to use as a wick, right?

The reason I'm confused is that I would think that they would simply fall apart!

Yarn I can understand. But, even the rounds and the q-tip ends?!

Yes you should boil any cotton you use for wick, after you determine it's 100% cotton. I use a fork to scoop out the rounds out of the water and squeeze them flat between my hands and they stay strong. I did an interesting Drunker thing tonight.

I was still getting a little burny taste from the Drunker. Since I rewicked, I knew it wasn't a wicking issue. So what else could it have been?

My coils not touching the wicks. Ugh. You know what that means? Adel got to play with NR wire again.

I made the legs SUPER short so I didn't have to pull multiple strands of wire down through the holes in the cup. This method was much more successful, and gives me hope that the silver crimp beads will be absolutely perfect.

Re-coiled my pre-soaked wick, dropped it in the tank. Beautiful 1.5ohm coil. So far this is performing much better.

It could be that this particular yarn isn't going to work well for this tank, but I'm willing to give it this last shot. Then I'll stick with rounds. And I really want to order a 2nd Drunker.. Just so I can vape on one and soak cheesecloth in the other... :p

Empire Mods has an RBA called the A8 that looks like the exact same thing as the Drunker. It is more expensive, but prettier too.

That way you could tell the difference between 2 different ones that have different set-ups in them when you're experimenting.

Now why'd you have to go and tell me that....???

I'll let you know how it does... Might need to start a new thread for that though... ;)

It's a bit different -- it's a post-styled RBA. So no need for NR wire. Doesn't look like it takes 4 wicks either.

But it IS pretty. Looks a little like a genny.

And....if ya like bottom coil rebuildables, the Kanger Protank looks promising.

The only negative I can see with these (IMO) is the 2.5 ml tank capacity. They need to make a 5 ml Drunker with those posts like the A8. That would be sweet.

Edit: Or...a 5 ml "A9" :)

Holy crap they shipped it already. hahaha.

Hope you have better luck than I did -- they showed my items shipped the same day and they took a full seven days to reach me. I think the shipping notice is one of those "tracking number received at USPS" things that come along with using Stamps.com.

I wish it didn't have the threaded tank. I would love a Drunker-style RBA in stainless with a glass tank.

Eh, I won't be in town this weekend, so even getting it by Saturday isn't a concern. Sometime next week will do. Hopefully they'll get it out the door by tomorrow though. I got the Stamps.com notice and a notice that it had shipped. Probably means it's in a box waiting for pickup though.

I much prefer glass as well, but short of going true genny style (not quite ready to mess with mesh), I don't see many options. I glanced at the protank, but can't watch videos at the moment (at the office).

I have glass carto tanks to set up with my Rebuildable Cartomizer (should be here ... tomorrow?!), and that will have to do for any of the trouble juices I want to put in a tank. I understand the limitations of the Drunker and A8 as far as juices go, and I'm okay with it for the price. I'll wait for ECF members to vet and test a non-genny style glass tank type RBA. Until a great one comes to the market, I'm perfectly fine with dripping the trouble juices, or using my Killer.

I really need to stop buying stuff though. :p
