..........Fixed it, and I have a Drunker coil ... drumroll please ... at 1.7ohms. ......

So how does it vape??? I just rebuilt the coil in mine because I had went to lower ohms and didn't like it as well. There might have been other factors involved though, because I changed the wick arrangement slightly as well.

This last build I'm back to 6 wraps of 32 ga kanthal on a small tube which came in at 2.7 ohms. It's vaping great on the yj, but not on my bolt or e-power. I may have to break down and take a look at some nr wire.

So far.. not so great. It's a wicking issue though. My roommate just cut his hand open on the lid of a soup can, so I'm in the E.R. waiting for him to get stitches instead of redoing my wick. Bleh.

Sorry to hear about your roommate. I done the same thing many years ago but fortunately it was a small cut only worthy of a band aid.

As far as your wick, you might try cutting them at the edge of the coil and twisting them out. Then just replace with a short wick, trim it at the sides and pack your other wicks up to it. Worth a try anyway.

Eh, he turned out alright.

I had replaced the assist wick earlier. It's vaping like 70% better, but it's not quite there yet. I need to replace the main wick and not excited about the idea.

Lol I actually see the crimping beads as being the "easy way out." I'm soooo excited. :)

Okay, so after replacing the cotton round wick assist with a short yarn wick assist and letting it soak.. This thing is hitting like a champ.

+1 for the NR wire and the organic cotton yarn. I'm happy.

I have my wick assist laying on top of the coil. Was the easiest way for me to do it.

Yeal, the cotton will sort of blend together when wet. When installing my coil in the ceramic, I always put a little cotton slug in my coil, then slide in a needle at the bottom of the coil to hold the coil in the slots while I install the grommet and pin. This last time, when I got done and took the needle out, I noticed that the cotton was fitting in the coil really good, so I just trimmed the ends with the ceramic, put the ends of the original wick up to it and covered the whole thing with the helper wick. So far I can't tell any difference than if it was one wick through the coil.

No... what is it?

You just feed some strands up from a cotton pad to put a thin layer of cotton over the ss, as shown in the second video on this page. Quigsworth1 - YouTube

Take a look at the first video for wrapping with string. Another way to use cotton is to roll the ss in a couple layers of cheese cloth.

Just thought its time for me to chime in here..... I was reading this thread for a couple of weeks and ended up ordering 2 Drunker's. After 4 days of use here is what I have to report;

34 gauge nichrome wire, 2.8ohms (5/6 wrap 3/32 drill bit) with a cotton makeup pad wick at 15 watts (maxed out) on my Vamo

Ive made 10-12 wicks and found that 2 thin rolls of the cotton pads and a third piece where the coil goes worked the best for me. It was a challenge to get the best coil/wick setup for HV vaping but this setup when done correctly works perfectly! No burnt cotton, lots of vapor and only slight muting of flavor due to the heat.

This is my first RBA and im coming from DCT's. I honestly like the Drunker alot but, I cant say that I like it more than my DCT setup. They both have advantages and disadvantages, ie; shorter draw on the DCT for equal vapor, better flavor on the drunker.

I think that my ideal vape would be a dual coil Drunker, but I dont see that happening.

Thanks to everyones post's for helping me set this Drunker up, and im looking forward to what else we can come up with to perfect this tank!

so this is basically a vivi nova with a ceramic cup. this same device without the rubber caps holding the wire would be something really really good.

Sort of.. There are some really big improvements over the vivi nova. My biggest complaints about the VVN were fixed with the Drunker tank.

Yeah I wonder how else you could supply power and ground without the rubber grommet and center pin build. Where else would you put pos and neg leads in a tank like this?

I've sort of dropped out of this thread because I'm still using the stock setup that came with the Drunker, and have spent what vape-tweaking time I have getting the Cobra right, so it hurts my brain to even think about dealing with cotton, NR et al right now.

But the Drunker is still working great. I have two more coming in the mail along with 6 extra coils I apparently bought just before MV sold out... And the day will come when I avail myself of all the excellent ideas shared here for rebuilding. So thanks for all of the sage advice!
