I was just wondering if anyone that uses atomizers that require resistance and non-resistance wires to wrap their wicks solders them together instead. Seems like it might not be too difficult? I use an Odysseus and the Terminator. I know that at the GG site they sell pre-made wires and they are soldered. Does any one do this and what would I need to get myself set up. I normally use 32 A1 kanthal and sterling silver for the legs. I hope this works out, just seem to me that if they were soldered that the resistance would be more stable not worrying about the joined parts getting pulled or kinked. Thank You

Check out igetcha not sure which video he explains it on but there is one about how to set up soldered wicks ( I think only remember him saying it in another video so not sure if he solders or twists )

I found some information, but it seems like a whole lot of extra work , solder material, right temp as not to melt the silver etc. Oh well, just a thought

i had tried to find some info when i owned a penelope. i believe you would have to zap the wires together , i forget what that is called. but as for solder, dont think you can.

I tried once to solder them, there was no way that regular solder was going to stick to the nichrome

Solder is specifically made to have a low melting point, you should not use it on a heating element.

A mechanical connection like twisting wire is better anyway. Several decades ago wire wrapping was often used for high-reliability applications. For example the computers used in the Apollo moon missions were all wire wrapped, not soldered. These days it is no longer practical because everything is much smaller, there are too many connections too close together. Also soldering is popular because it is easier to automate, industrial robots can solder an entire circuit board in seconds.

I dont think solder soaked in juice would be too healthy.

Im thinking that since solder is a combination of lead & other metals (depending on what you buy) that the lead just makes it a bad idea right off the bat.

GG/ Clouds of vaper sells premade wicks for the GG atomizers. They are soldered. Im sure there is something other than lead to splice the wires without harm. Also in cartomizers there are soldered wires used there too. I would hope that there is no lead in there.

We used to spot-weld small wires together to make thermocouples. It was a small spot welding machine but I don't know how much they cost or where to get it.

I read about soldering coils, you have to use high acid flux. I just stick with twisting

I have accidently soldered the no resistance wire to the resistance wire when I got the wick too hot dry burning.

I know smoktech uses metal crimps for the premade coils you can buy for things like the vivi. while you can find leadfree solder or minimal lead, there are still things like tin in there.

Thats cool. Some kind of battery operated wire current zapping device. That would get me away from twisting and make very accurate resistances. I wish I could get it translated.
