I had the same problem with the insulator . But mine was moving up and down and allowing the center post to lose contact with the atomizer. I took a more radical aproach and ended up using a 2 part epoxy. I pushed the insulating material down a bit and made sure that the center pin was flush with the top of the tube, then filled the resulting gap with the epoxy. Now, not only does it not erode due to the liquid, but I no longer have the problem of the pin moving around a losing contact with the atty.

Mine has occasionally lost contact with atties since I got it a couple weeks ago; I would unscrew and re-screw stuff and then it would work. (Had written about it in my last post but took it out, as it was already long, and to be frank it really didn't seem the thread was going to get anywhere concrete anyway.) But my GLV must know I've been talking about it lol, because over the past several days there have been a few cartos it just won't activate, at least without some serious tightening, such that the carto adapter is hard to get out afterwards. I imagine eventually that might not do the trick anymore either. The cartos are all from the same source, but even if a few are machined a hair differently or something, point is those same cartos work fine on my other gear (different mod, 510, 901, kr808d).

I have had the new insulating material in a bottle of juice for about 2 weeks now to test it and im happy to say that it does not dissolve at all, and keeps the pin in place like it should.

It's great that you work to improve the GLV and have made the fixes you've mentioned in this thread, but those things are more relevant to future shoppers than anyone posting about an existing concern.

I got mine from body-only stock very recently but it seems it probably has the older atty tube characteristics, as the black powder had come off around the 510 adapter and needed to be wiped from the threads. (And again, I see no clear inner tube in it.) It wasn't as messy yet as terranlanding's maybe because mine is very new, or because aside from some testing I've been using it with cartos, not dripping etc.

As asked previously, since I'm often in your area Jay I'd like to know if you could look it over sometime and maybe update/tweak the atty a little? I don't have the tools or electronics knowledge to do that kind of stuff myself, and can't think of anyone who does who could help me 'oversee' my GLV in general. I'd much rather have it tip-top out of the gate than wait to see if things stop working. And would like to be able to choose it as my mod for trips and be reasonably confident it'll fire up any carto or atty. Plus the iffy legal climate around PVs surely makes it less possible for any modder or other seller to really promise much about what, if anything, can be done about problems in the future. All of the above is why the soundness of my gear is so important to me. Also, while your intentions are good you're obviously a very busy guy, without the luxury of a lot of time to devote to this sideline. So I'd rather strike whenever the iron is hot (i.e., sometime when you're available and I'm in town) and make sure my beloved little gadget here is as solid as it could and should be. No big rush, just sometime. Ok?

Yes same here, have hard time getting atty to make connection.. Its becoming aggravating. For now both of mine stay home, when I go out or to work I bring another brand, I need a pv that works every time, not every other time. :( I'll have to get with Jay or figure it out myself. I have tried to push it up higher in the tube but the atty just pushes it back down. Nothing more fun then trying to get it to fire up while doing 75 on the freeway!

Hey here are the pictures I promised. The first is of the result of the insulation dissolving. The second is of the body tube's insulation material in question (or cover? or something?). The third is my current solution for the dissolving problem.

Hi Jay...
Just to add my 2 cents worth...
What a vaping beast this is now!:p

Not bad I'll give it a try...:)

Ah-ha! Just found this thread, AFTER getting my GLV. I think mine has the same connection problem. AND, with all the screwing/un-screwing, I've completely stripped the threads that hold the atty in place....going to have to send back to Jay to get re-worked. I'm not happy about that at all.

Also added a ball of solder to the pin for more surface area to contact, so far so good.

When I suspected this was the weak link in the connection, I should have done the same...might have saved my threads. I will definitely do this if I have the same problem in the future. Thanks!
