Just had to put this out here and vent..........

If you've been around here a bit, we've all heard the story of Boba's Bounty, another vendor taking another's name and/or juice name.

Now a B & M has opened using a variant of "Alice in Vapeland": "Alice n Vaporland". Now this B & M wants to say the vaping community should come together to support each other and they didn't have a clue about AiV............

I say BULLOCKS!
A B & M starts up in September of this year in Texas, and wants to say they have never heard of Ali
ce in Vapeland, except a "Google" search that named the same in the UK. ???????????

As the vaping community, do we give our support to a business that BLATANTLY uses a name, just 3 letters in difference from the original AiV?:glare:

Sorry for the vent, but I just see a vape store cashing in on another vendors good name and future customer base and it chaps my hide!

Lets assume that the name was a mistake and they did not intend to piggyback on the AiV name.... I just registered Alice N Vaporland (the impostor name) here in the state of Florida...wonder if I should use it to piggyback on any business they may have built just because I legally can ?

Ummmm Nope I have integrity:2cool:

Ya know, there is only so many ways to incorporate the words vape, vapor, vaping into a name. In fact, they may ALL have been used already.

If Alice wants to sue Alice, then fine.

But my opinion is, these people who opened the B&M had no idea of the e-juice company and thought they were being rather brilliant.

Now they have ordered the sign and cards and stationary. Kinda too late to turn back now.

Do they also make e-juice under that brand name?

If it's just a B&M, then little harm done. They might get a few customers who think it's AIV, but that's not really HARM to AIV.
Now if they start selling juice online - THAT is a different story, and would infuriate me.
(I still think I'd have a more adamant response if something i created was blatantly misrepresented like Boba's...)

Yep, KjA, we KNOW what they're doing, side stepping questions on they FB page...."ignorance is bliss" doesn't cut it. It would be like using the name "Mt. Bakerr", "Haloe", or "Five Prawns". I don't think the owners have been in the vaping "community" much at all.:2c:

Alice in Vapeland also supplies various B & M's around the country.....also the recipient of the 2013 Spinfuel Choice award.
I watched my dad go through a very similar situation with his business name, bottom line, a unique name being duplicated is done more for riding the coat tails of an established business than anything else. JMO :2c:

LOL. I'm gonna start selling juice branded "Five Prawns". It'll taste like shrimp.

If I was going to steal a name it would be Planet of the Vapes that is the coolest name I seen :)

But you have to think about this as if it was YOU!
Say you was the one that built from the ground up and everything else that comes with starting a New Business, and some one comes along and steals your name? How would you feel? And wonder if they run that name into the ground?

How could a business like a B&M store for vaping even GO into business without being aware of what is available on the internet, especially something that comes up by autosuggestion when one starts typing Alice In Va.... into Google?

What sane person doesn't check out the NAME of their business before officially NAMING the business??

I'm sorry but I can't swallow this.
