Intellicharge i2 smoking after plugged in for 15 minutes

I just picked up my first mod and ordered new batteries with a nitecore v2 intellicharge after reading rave reviews. I plugged it in for the first time today and after 15 minutes I noticed a burning smell. I was eating my breakfast near the charge device when I noticed a tiny bit of smoke coming from it. Placed my hand on the device and it was very hot to the touch. Has anyone else seen this happen? The batteries I was charging were a slight bit warm but I am assuming I shouldn't try to use them now. Little help as to how or why would be appreciated.

I don't personally tolerate any 'oddities' in batteries or chargers. I'd notify the vendor (quickly - some warranties are rather short) of the charger and batteries and see what advice they have for you.

I agree with Kent C. The charger shouldn't get so hot to the tough. It sounds like you got a bad one. You were lucky to have seen the smoke before there was a fire. I wouldn't use it again and would contact the vendor.
