I vape chocolate most of the day and been trying some sample packs to see what else does it for me, but really addicted to the choco.
My main cravings are first thing in morning and last at night. I cheated the first 2 weeks 4 times a day, cheated 3rd week twice a day then got my Marlboro flavor 24 mg and so far no cheating this past week, it seems to take care of it to the most part, still get urge in morning so I might get a small bottle of 36 mg just for mornings if it doesn't die down.
I was a pack to pack n a half a day with Marlboro reds for 28 years.
Keep vaping

Up the nic level and find a tobacco style flavor that does satisfy. For me, it was 555 and I have found Cohiba now as well. Certainly can go as high as 36mg to kill the cravings. All day, I am all over the baord with nic level, anywhere from 18 to 36. It really does get easier though! Stick with it, you'll see.

LittleMerced, I can't really relate to your plight, I really never did want a cigarette again, after I started. I was totally amazed at it myself. I didn't even tell my husband I bought an e-cig until the third day without a cigarette, by then I was very sure! It really did just happen that way. And I was a heavy, heavy smoker. Yes, I was hyper, and hungry! for a couple months, but I could work through it. I started with 16mg juice but quickly went to 24mg/ml, so that's an idea. At 24mg I was totally happy and confident.
A lot of folks with the same effect will tell you to have that cigarette; there's nothing that says you must quit within a certain time frame, that has to depend on your comfort level, and your own conviction.
But it shows there's more than just the puffing and the nicotine, there are a lot of other things at work. You're withdrawing, and that's not comfortable. Some folks use an occasional snus or lozenge, or other sources of MAOI's and Alkaloids (ingredients in tobacco) to get them through the process. But if you can drastically cut down on cigarettes it is already successful!
Best of Luck, Welcome to ECF, there's lots of help here.

Why be so uncomfortable? Heck smoke a cig in the evenings if it helps. Just a guess here but if you smoked 1 cig in the evening the rest of your life (which I don't think you will) you'd probably still be smoking waaaaaay less than you have in the past.

IMO this is supposed to be an enjoyable transition, so quit fighting it so hard. Just keep on vaping and it'll sort itself out. Good luck!

Wow, thanks you guys for all of the awesome support and great suggestions. I've noticed that everyone here is really supportive. Malyden, I had never even thought to try something like that! I think I would wind up smoking more of the PV than the cig as it tastes so much better!

I think you all are right in that I should maybe get a higher nic and also not beat myself up everytime I smoke a tobacco cig. In all honesty, I know I like vaping better, it's just adjusting to a new thing. I just feel so guilty when I give in! But I know now that I will never go back to permanent smoking :)

I entered into the world of vaping with placing no pressure on myself. I enjoyed the flavor of the different juices. I was amazed at how quickly I cut down on smoking regular cigarettes. Endured a hospital stay because of being able to vape.

Must say, I fell off the wagon and fell hard this past week. I was saddened with myself but didn't allow myself to become depressed over it. Life has a way of tossing road blocks up at us and it was too easy for me to grab a smoke, go outside with my "Tots" (Turds of Terror = dogs) and walk around the yard.

Also must add, I felt so sick after smoking almost 1/2 pack of regular smokes, once my nerves and heart calmed down I was back to vaping. I am still going outside to have a few a day if needed, but it's nothing compared to the 2+ packs a day for 40 years I smoked.

There is something about that first smoke in the morning and the one at the end of the night. Oh well, maybe this too shall pass. All we can do is our best at the moment :)

Think of it not as quitting cigarettes, but as replacing cigarettes. E-cigs are not marketed as smoking cessation devices, but as smoking alternatives.

I'll say again that we should remove the "Q" word from our vocabulary because part of the baggage that goes with the "Q" word is guilt...it's only when we put the pressure of "quitting" on ourselves that guilt and stress rears their ugly heads.

So just put yourself in cruise control and stop trying to quit. Keep on vaping, and like magic vaping will effortlessly overtake smoking...the ride is way more fun without stress.

Keep on doing what you're doing LittleMerced!

When I get a craving for an analog I go outside with my e-cig and try to envision the nicotine entering my body and kinda talk myself through it. It almost always goes away within a few minutes, I just think its a bit of anxiety from not having what has run your life for so long, yes going to a higher nic level works 2 I vape 24mg first thing in morning, last one at night but 18mg throughout the day.

Not everyone will quit cold turkey. Stopping suddenly puts more stress on your system and just creates a craving with no relief available. I decided that I would let my cravings dictate how much I could give up and when. After about 6 weeks of vaping, I still smoke about a half dozen analogs a day.

When the urge arises, I go over and hit the PV heavy and wait. If it goes away, and it usually does, I don't have an analog. Eventually, though I will allow myself one and I'm happy for a few hours. My intentions are to eventually quit, but at my own pace.

We all are different. Some people quit on day 1 and others take a while.

I'm one of those that just REALLY wanted to quit, but couldn't find a good way to do it. I ordered my kit, knew when it was coming, and I smoked my last analog a half hour before opening my kit. I haven't smoked an analog since. Fortunately, the smell of cigarette smoke is so gross to me now, I don't even THINK about having one. I am amazed at how easy it was for me, as every other attempt I ever made failed miserably, and very quickly.

Do what you need to though, if an analog is the only thing that will hit the spot, and make you not go insane, then smoke...Don't think that you are failing if you've drastically cut down, keep trying...keep moving through the cravings.

One side note that I was taught in smoking cessation class (one of my failed attempts) was that if you tell yourself you are going to only have 2 cigarettes in a day, you will find yourself enjoying those TWO cigarettes more than if you had smoked an entire pack, and COULD lead to another failed attempt. I don't know exactly how true it is, but it does make some sense.

Ecigs are not a quit program. For many if not most it seems to just work out that way.
I had no intentions of quitting. It sort of just happened. It seems I am not alone in this.
Some continue to smoke and vape too. Thats fine.
Dont worry about it, if you crave a cig, just have one. If you crave banana nut bread then have that to in a delicious vape LOL>
In the end the dessert usually wins :)

Good advice already. Everyone is different, do what you need to do. For me, I can't do both. I had equipment failure after five days so bought a pack of cigs. Tried hard to not smoke them but went through the pack in 3 days. By then I had new kit and all the supplies I needed to vape. Had to make a decision and I knew if I bought more cigs, I would continue smoking so I didn't buy any and worked though the cravings. After a few days, it was fairly easy going and the cravings dropped off to almost nothing.

I am happy to say that today is my 6 month anniversary of no cigs and I never thought I would be able to say that after smoking for about 35 years.

Best of luck to you, just keep on trying and it will work out for you.

Don't try to quit. That's my advice. Just try to replace as many cigs as you possibly can with vaping. It's the best way and it worked for me. I tried every method before, including Wellbutrin, patches, gum, you name it.

If you have a very strong urge, vape some more. If the urge doesn't go away, you may want to try some Swedish snus, or dissolvable tobacco (like Stonewalls or Ariva). I still use them and they do the job. I agree with the previous posters about the "quitting" and "guilt" and the mind games. Don't go there. The trick is to slowly develop new habits that will eventually replace the old ones. I actually find myself now "craving" a particular vape, a flavor that I like... Honest. It takes time. Have fun!
