Hi, Marx. I just wanted to add a word about nicotine concentrations.
I agree that you'll probably want some of the high nicotine concentration eliquid around, but I would STRONGLY suggest that you also purchase some medium level concentration as well.
I was a 2+ pack a day smoker for 30 years . . . American Spirits (2.05 mg nicotine). Without doing any research, I assumed I'd need a high concentration. Turns out that I did not . . . I got some wicked headaches from using too much high concentration. For the first several days, I vaped a lot more than I smoked, probably trying to keep the cravings at bay. (I am now down to no or low nic solutions, with an occasional spike of medium or high.)
I personally would recommend that you start off with a medium level concentration and then "spike" your e-cig or e-pipe with a bit of high eliquid when you feel you need more. Yes, you can buy high and then dilute it, but the flavor also gets diluted as well. (Some of us buy flavorings to add when we cut high liquid.)
As for whether e-cigs give you the feeling of having smoked a cigarette--the calming effect and satisfaction--well, yes and no. I struggle to find a combination of liquids and devices to give me a consistent throat hit (which, for me, means weight to the vapor and a bit of a punch at the back of my throat and a feeling of inhaling something of substance into my lungs). Thus far I haven't found any combination that consistently gives that.
I find that the hand-mouth and inhaling aspects of e-smoking are close enough to smoking that that, combined with some vapor and a bit of a "hit" of the nicotine, is enough to keep me off tobacco. I'm also finding (much to my surprise) that I enjoy vaping different flavors other than just tobacco or menthol.
While it's not the same as smoking, some come to prefer vaping over analogs. Others find that despite the fact that it's not the same as smoking, there are significant benefits such that vaping becomes preferable to smoking analogs.
I still occasionally crave an analog. I tried one after a week or so of quitting tobacco and picking up vaping. It was beyond nasty. I remind myself of that taste when I get a craving . . . and it does help quite a bit. And then I spike my low nic solution with a bit of medium, and life goes on.
