I've been vaping for some time now and just started kicking the tires on the idea of DIY. I tried looking for a good introduction thread but didn't really find one on here (could quite possibly be my fault). Essentially, for my first project that is, I'm looking to duplicate mount baker Vapors Hawk Sauce in 9mg nicotine and 80vg/20pg. I'd really like to be able to fully switch to vaping as I am still a dual user and I feel like this might be the final step. Can someone send me in the direction of how to do this in the most cost effective way or direct me to a thread on how to get started/achieve this? Thank you in advance.

Hi Whiskey. I have a lot of links to threads and such you might find helpful. First I'd recommend watching a few you tube's about mixing e liquids. Secondly I'd suggest looking for recipes you think you might enjoy, writing down the ingredients so you'll know what you have to buy, and the manufacturer, to start. Then it's read read read...

Definitely watch some you tubes because you will learn a lot. And if you want to make Hawk Sauce and save a lot, you can start out by buying the flavoring of Hawk Sause from Mt. Baker Vapor way cheaper than their premade and make it yourself. It's an easy way to get your feet wet in diy'ing because the flavoring is already there for you. But their flavors do tend to take a high percentage like 25-35% flavoring a lot of times. I love their vanilla butternut, and mix it at 35%. No need in wasting a lot of money on premade when you can do it yourself way way cheaper. I could never afford to Vape all premade juices.

@WhiskeyTango - I would STRONGLY suggest NOT mixing up that large of a batch to start with. Try a 10 or 15mL batch. There would be nothing that would suck more hugely than a half a liter of nastiness!!!!!

I started with 10mL batches, and I have yet to make anything over 30mL.

Here's a good starting point for you.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.
