Would love some input, especially from people who have use an Old Goat 3.7v bottom feeder and are now using a Reo.

I have had an Old Goat mod for about 2 months, and I use it sparingly, for a number of reasons. One reason being that I cannot seem to master the ''squonk". I always seem to end up with too much juice in my atty. I know this will take a bit of practice, but it seems like I am only able to get maybe 2-3 good pulls before it is dry again, and then I squonk and end up with too much juice, which takes a good 4-5 puffs to vape through to get the 2-3 good pulls.

The main reason I am not sure if a bottom feeder is for me is that I notice a pretty big difference in flavor between the bottom feeder and dripping.

I know there are plenty of threads on squonking and on the flavor difference between dripping and bottom feeders, but my question is more specific...anyone have experience coming from an Old Goat (or lesser-than-Reo) feeder and have any input on how much better things got with the Reo?

I would very much like to fall in love with the Reo as the entire concept is appealing to me. Dripping is find at home, but not so much in social situations or on the road. Cartomizers are OK, but I cannot use them full time, the flavor just isn't the same. I recently bought a J-tank and while it is a pretty good little tank, it still involves me using a carto.

Any input would be much appreciated!

reos are great. it easier to guage your squonking. i started off just squonking blindly but after a while learned to only squonk until a see a little bit of juice seep out of the atty connection into the catch cup. after that you get the hang of how much pressure is needed and you dont even look anymore.

The OG bottom feeder has a needle that goes up into the atty to feed the juice. The REO's do not. I have used the OG. It is similar but different when squonking. I find the REO's to be much easier to tame the squonk. The technique of getting just the right amount of juice to the atty at the right time can be challenging because of many variables. The force of your draw and length time squonking or pushing on the bottle. When you are vaping these also come into play.
The bottles you use for your juice can also be different because of the feel. Some are harder to push and other soft.
I can recommend the REO's as being designed as the perfect vaping machine from first fill to the superb vape.

The OG bottom feeder is what finally got me off the cigs. I have two and like them. Great intro to bottom feeding at an affordable price. I upgraded to both a REO grand and mini because I knew this was going to work for me and wanted a sturdy device to last for many years as I have no plan to stop vaping anytime soon. I had a problem with the OG exactly like you with attys. Never got the hang of it so the inside of my mod kept getting wet and getting into the switch area causing problems. That doesn't happen with the REO's cuz they are all mechanical. I was a dripper before going bottom fed so I know what you mean about taste. I need taste....not throat hit. The REO is easier to change juice on...a bit less messy also. I have converted for the most part to boge 2.0 cartomizers on my bottom fed mods...all of them. I find great taste with these (never liked cartos before and still don't like any but boge) and it is hard to get the catch cup or mod messy with this combo....though I do on occasion when not paying attention or the carto is getting clogged. Nothing is foolproof I have proven! The blind squonk will become your friend.....if you want to use an atty, you have to master the feeding. The way that works best (other than the blind squonk) for me is to look for a TINY (miniscule) bit of juice peeking out from the atty holes then QUIT squeezing. Do a soft, very gentle draw while squeezing the bottle very tenderly with NO power and you will hear/feel the juice move a little in the atty. Then take a powered hit from it and all will be good. The key to atty use is to not flood it or vape it dry regardless whether you drip or use another method and being very gentle when using bottom feeding. It becomes very easy very fast. Set aside some time to focus on your technique without distractions and you will master it very quickly and probably come to love bottom feeding. The Reos are the best I've found. It isn't for everyone I've heard but it is so much simpler than any other vaping method I've seen to date. Less stuff to carry when out and about and LESS MESS. Good luck vaping no matter what you choose for equipment. Have a great day.

I have an old goat. The one difference is that the old goat has a needle that feeds straight into the atty making it very easy to flood. The REO just feeds it to the catch cup giving you a little more control. Both work best with thicker juices especially in the summer.

As far as flavor between dripping and bottom feed there is very little difference once you get the feeding right. The REO is easier to do that.

Edit again: Looks like someone answered while I dug out , dusted off and fired up my OG. LOL

I started with the OG too, and while it's an okay little bugger (and I still adore it), it is nothing like the Reo Grand. My OG doesn't have the catchcup like his newer models have, and those might be a little cleaner for the user I don't know. My Cisco LR 396's loved that little bugger. I could "flood" it and vape on through.,,, with sticky fingers. The Reo, on the other hand, does have a wonderful catchcup and the 306 is a tad tempermental with it. I have to twist off the atty and dry the posts off and then she works beautifully. Once I mastered the squonk (didn't take very long with all the good tips here in the forum), I rarely flood anymore.

The main difference (besides the superb craftsmanship, and all mechanical) is the fact that I can switch juices and batteries on my Reo without having to get out the wet vac. The Reo is one clean mean machine. I don't know how I ever did without it. I look forward to using it everyday (and do use it everyday!) whereas with the OG I was beginning to dread using it because I'd have to clean it 2x a day plus keep a wet towelette handy. Plus with the OG I always had to take the battery out in case the button turned on or whatever (but I was taking it out to clean and dry out all the time anyway).

His catchcup ones might be different... but they still have the needle, not the tubing. The tubing really makes a difference, like was mentioned.

Like as mentioned, the OG is a great beginners device, something to get wet our whistles with until we can afford/luck out a Reo. He does a nice job making them and you'll never find me "knocking" them because if it weren't for the OG I would have never known how much I prefer BF to dripping and cartos. (which I can still do both dripping and cartos but so much easier and cleaner!).

(I hope this post makes sense, I'm on my first cup of coffee today)
