Intermittent short with newer Evod Glass?

Just got in from a flight, and after filling one of my new-ish Glass Evods, it wouldn't fire. Checked the resistance on my MVP, and it was reading 0.0. Annoyed, I figured the coil had somehow shorted, so I walked about a mile to a nearby vape shop and picked up some dual-coil extras (didn't bring extras, as I had literally just put that coil in, and it had been vaping fine before I left).

However, when I got back to the hotel, the new coil wouldn't fire either (this time on my 650mah Evod battery). Now really annoyed, I put the original coils back in, then re-attached the tank, this time not screwing it tight. Now it worked fine.

Not sure what's happening here. I made sure the coils are securely tightened in the base; could the base itself somehow be causing an issue? I know the MVP's pin can sometimes be tetchy with Evods, but the Evod battery shouldn't be so picky... should it?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Sounds like it may be that the center pin of the battery is not making a good connection with the atomizer of the clearomizer/tank. This usually occurs from over-tightening the tank onto the battery connector.

Just make sure that if you use something conductive (metal) to pry up on the center pin that you do NOT hit the fire button while you are working on the battery. Or better yet, turn off the battery.

If you over tightened the the atty you may have depressed the center pin a bit and now it's not making contact. It happens on all batteries with a 510 connection--MVP, eGos, Vamos, ProVaris...

You have a connectivity problem--the center post of your tank doesn't connect with the center pin on your battery.

You can grab a tiny screwdriver (or a paperclip or what have you) and try to GENTLY push that pin up just a hair--from all sides, until it's back to its normal position. You can also check the center post on your eVod and pull it out--very gently.

If you continue to have problems, buy a few spacers from MadVapes--they solve all connectivity problems--just drop one into the 510 well of your MVP and you're good!

Thanks for the tips. I had considered that it might be the battery pin, but the fact that it happened on 2 batteries (one of which was explicitly designed for an Evod tank) was throwing me off.

What's strange is that it was reading 0.0, not 'NON" on the MVP. I've seen 0.0 on recoils I've messed up, but this was on two stock coils (one slightly used, one brand new). I saw some other links indicating that the machining of a tank's base sometimes can cause issues... perhaps that's the problem. If it crops up again, I'll try to swap bases with my other Evod glass (that has given me no issues).

In my experience, Evods (I don't have the glass, just the old style) do seem to have a longer Ego thread than some others. Which means that to avoid the problem in the future you need to tighten an Evod only far enough to get an electrical connection. Tighter and they do tend to push the battery pin in.

Interesting. I have an eVod (old style) also but never noticed that. But then I never over tighten anything because I'm so scared of pushing that pin down.

OTOH, Kanger has redesigned their coil heads so many times that anything is possible--your eVod coil may not be the same as mine... The only atty that wouldn't connect to my MVP was the old style T3 (one piece)--the pin was too short, so I had to use circuit board spacers. I don't use those any more, though. The T3S (same as eVod, 2-piece) coils work fine.
