I just unscrew the atty and carry it in my briefcase.
*Remember no more than 4oz. of liquid*
I've had it looked at before, they asked what it was and I told them. They put it back in the bag and I was off.
I have a little pouch I carry all of the batts, etc in that I throw in my checked baggage. I break my juice out in 10ml bottles and throw it in a ziploc along with the antiperspirant and shampoo.

Depending on the airline, I don't know if I'd vape on the plane or not. SW frowns on it and have a rule of NO electric cigarettes in flight.
I've hit a 510 a few times on a plane but very stealthy...

edit - One last word of wizzzdom...
Don't forget to carry a backup device. If you use 510 attys throw a couple of 510 batts in your checked bag along with a charger. Dont wanna get out somewhere and wind up having to resort back to analogs. Better to step down than step back..

The security search and prohibited items standards are pretty much the same everywhere. I've gone through Canada, Bermuda and into Europe with my ecigs several different models including the protege. I keep them in the front pocket of my brief case in full view of any agent looking at the screen and I've yet to have anyone question them. To the best of my knowledge none of the components [batteries, attys, carts] are illegal anywhere. In the very unlikely event you are questioned about them simply be honest, tell them what they are and you'll be good to go. Have a nice trip!

thanks guys... normally i'm not worried about my cheap pv's in domestic flights... but this is a protege, and this trip i'll be stopping in several asian countries and getting screened a few times so i just wasn't really sure how it would go.

and i'll def bring a backup device. i quit smoking in 2001 and started vaping a few months ago to get off my anxiety meds (doctor approved it too! haha)

From TSA website

Make Your Trip Better Using 3-1-1

3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 oz. container size is a security measure.

Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening.

Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.

3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.

Some Tips for Safe Travel With Batteries

* Keep batteries and equipment with you, or in carry-on baggage - not in your checked baggage! In the cabin, flight crew can better monitor conditions, and have access to the batteries or device if a fire does occur.

* If original packaging is not available for spare batteries, effectively insulate battery terminals by isolating the batteries from contact with other batteries and metal. Do not permit a loose battery to come in contact with metal objects, such as coins, keys, or jewelry.

* Place each battery in its own protective case, plastic bag, or package, or place tape across the battery's contacts to isolate terminals. Isolating terminals prevents short-circuiting.

* Take steps to prevent crushing, puncturing, or putting a high degree of pressure on the battery, as this can cause an internal short-circuit, resulting in overheating.

I went from FLA to CO to Hawaii to Japan with the Protege in my European Man Bag with atty off unit.... no questions ... no problems.... my wife had forgotten that she had a bottle of sprite in her bag and they confiscated it...hehehe

LoL sprite... go go airport security. she should have cracked it open and chugged it.

I just traveled to Panama. I carried the Protege down in my briefcase without a problem. On the way back, in Panama City airport, there was a check at the gate, after the regular security check. The young girl there pulled out the Protege, looked at it, and shook her head "NO", like she was going to confiscate it! I had the atty off at the time. I protested (a little) in English, which she didn't understand. So I took it and unscrewed the cap, took out the battery, and she said Okay. She still didn't know what it was, but somehow, my showing her the battery made it Okay. It could have gone the other way just as easily. Whew!

i fly out of country wed. they have security tightened a little more since the nigerian thing... hope my protege still makes it :)

If your worried it wouldn't hurt to bring a self addressed, postage paid, padded envelope with you. If they give you trouble, just mail home.

can you do that? mail it home, even if they confiscate it? one of my friend said, just to be safe, he puts it in his check in baggage along with his ejuices.

AT the check point (at least here in america) you have the option of stepping out of line with the item in question (Mine was a pocket knife I forgot about) and handle it. If you have an envelope you can mail it to yourself (I put mine back in the Jeep).

If it's in another country I'm not sure what would happen. I'd say you'd be subject to whatever they wanted to do about it. I'm sure if you were cool about it 99% of the time they would be too.

I've never had a problem traveling abroad. They generally like you coming to their country and spending american dollars. *At least they do in Cabo* :)

I'm curious as to how Outz's trip went.

On a domestic flight this past summer, I had my prodigy in my carry on with atomizer attached. They checked it. I stated it was a "nicotine inhaler to help me quit smoking". The TSA rep smiled and handed it back to me.

I then proceeded to stealth vape the entire flight. All you gotta do is just keep the vapor inhaled for about 10 seconds = no visible exhalation.

well, its 27 hours of being in planes/airports... i'll go nuts if i dont vape. and what if they lost my luggage? oh my!

im thinking about just disassembling it and putting it in random places in my carry-on. as long as it isnt bottled water they shouldnt care, right?
