Interviewed on e-smoking

Howdy all,

I made a thread in the newcomers section before, but should have enough posts now to add a thread here.

I was interviewed by our local university television, show Studio One | University of North Dakota and just wanted to give everyone a heads up. It will air on thursday. I think it went pretty well, I explained some of the benefits of it, general chit-chat I suppose. The reporter was also going to interview a doctor on campus, as well as the University Police Department about its use on campus (I've already had a run-in with them, and they were more than decent about it). So I'm pretty excited to say the least. Everyone I've showed it to on campus has thought it was really neat, even non-smokers.

Great stuff! I remember seeing the original post, its great that you are getting the ecig out there and letting all the smokers know about it! Did you remember to demo it on telly and say you get throat hit? There will ber loads of people knocking on your door wanting to know where to get one

Yup, mentioned a bit about the throat hit, feeling similar to, but not exactly like a real cig. The reporter told me the police really didn't have a clue about, "Thats a good question" kinda thing... She's interviewing the doc in a bit and is gonna let me know afterwards what he had to say, so i'll keep ya'll updated.

Ah yes, pedobear was called Kuma then. AFAIK bear in japaneese, but not sure.

As for media exposure of e-smoking, I'm of two minds. On the one hand I'd've never heard of it if someone hadn't posted a link on another site to a local TV news spot about it catching on in Las Vegas bars where a smoking ban had been passed.

On the other, I share Tropical Bob's fear of attention, regulation and eventual criminalization of aspects of this practice. We as practictioners and our suppliers as a fledgling industry are more or less flying under the radar, thus far.

I work for one of the largest National Public Radio affiliates in the US and could easily get a story on our air or even the national network if I decided to pitch it, after which the story would undoubtedly be picked up by other media including television (gadget + vapour = great visuals). I'm just not sure media attention would be a good thing for e-smoking in the long term.
