Hi, I'm new to vaping after two decades of smoking and love it. Haven't had a ciggie in a week. A little help would be appreciated, though. I'm slowly learning the playing field so at the moment I'd really just like to get a damp, flavorful vape after treating myself to some Vaper Chef juices (30/70). So, PICO 75 / MELO III. I'm currently running a Triton Ni200 .15 and am inclined to use TC (even though I'm a total newb). I also have a set of Triton Clapton .5s on the shelf. I pull right into my lungs FYI.

Can I achieve what I'm looking for with the MELO III even if it means some different coils. Or, should I just buy a different tank (as in - this one just isn't so hot why bother). Am really pleased with this PICO 75.

Anyway, much to learn and I'm appreciative of any help!

Hi and welcome! no reason you can't achieve what you're looking for. The Ni coil you have should be used ONLY in TC mode, not power mode. No reason to not start with it and see how you like it. Give it a bit of use, then change to the Clapton coils you already have. See which works better for you. This stuff gets all subjective, so what I might like in a vape, you might not. The nice thing is the wide variety of choices to help you find what's your best fit.

One of the problems I see a lot is people jumping from tank to tank trying to find the right thing instead of spending the time to try and figure out if what they have is right for them. I would follow what eskie said with the no coil in temp mode try different temps and different air flow setting if you have them tty different drip tip then try the .5 coil at different watts starting low and work your way up try different air flow setting. Also triton coils and a fee others will work in that tank so might try them. So in closing try a few things it will help you learn more about what works and what doesn't that way you can make intelligent chooses.

One thing that's helpful is to try and only change one parameter at a time. If you change multiple parameters at the same time it's tough to know what made things work/not work. And medley makes a very good point. The drip tip does affect your vape as well, more than I expected when I first played around with them. It takes trying a few to see which style of DT suits you best (after figuring the other stuff out).

All good advice. I've indeed been jockeying around with the various temps and wattage typically ranging from 30-45watts and 350-450degrees (NI200). The NI200 is rated for a MAX wattage of 45 if I'm understanding the specs correctly.

While I have you when time to reorder a TC coil is SS at this point generally advantageous or is this like so much in this hobby whereby folks just have a variety of preferences in some cases for example finding NI200 superior for personal reasons. Advantageous in the sense you can revert to wattage control with them with no sacrifice in flavor?

Lastly, and from one of the links here I noticed my 30/70vg is probably not ideal for a 'flavor chaser' moving forward. No doubt a factor as well.

SS seems good and the option to use it out of TC is good.
BUT, I don't think TC is very good at all.... in fact, I think it's rubbish unless you make your own coils.

70% VG is fine for flavor. Nobody seems to vape more than 50% PG these days and difference in flavor between the two (70/30 vs 50/50) is not worth thinking about. I make everything (all my recipes) at some point in both ratios (for either tanks vs drippers) and do this for wicking not flavor.

Greatful for the information. Inspired by y'all I switched over to the Triton Clapton .5 coils (35-40w / wattage mode) and the flavor was much improved.

I. I'm a bit spun on the subject of SS coils for the Melo III mini. What coils would be best?

II. I get a decent amount of spitting and gurgling right now. My girlfriend's (same setup) does the same. I broke it all down and cleaned it after reading various possibilities in the archive though nothing conclusive. Also, a gray chunk (1/4 carat in size) came into my mouth before doing such and I wondered if an o-ring had degenerated. Not the case. Thoughts?

1/4 carat? A diamond? Lucky.
Actually an oring deteriorating would result in a loss of vacuum & leaking.
Probably a buildup of debris in your drip tip..
