hi, my futura is giving me intermittent 'check battery' with freshly charged batteries. different batteries.
press button, get message, press again, fires. press again fires. press again, message. press again, fires.
started after 2 months of use. have all my batteries gone bad? any thoughts?

The DNA chip does battery health checks. It is certainly a possibility that your batteries are getting to the end of their lifespan and the DNA is complaining about that. Also make sure you have anti-oxidant paste on your threads (some brand names are Noalox or Ox-Guard). Also, when the DNA goes into sleep mode it sometimes does this brief check battery when you fire it next. I'm sure NexGen would tell you to first pick up a new battery before you ask to have it serviced. Are you using quality brand name batteries like AW, Orbtronics or Efest?

Mine does this also. I had to send my Futura in to get the DNA board replaced due to another issue (with DNA board) and both the old one and the new DNA board do this. I have used new Efest batteries and brand new Orbtronic SX30 that I just received a week ago and both do it when the DNA comes out of sleep mode. Not sure what the issue is exactly but I've just been giving it some time to see what happens. It still fires just fine and only does it when coming out of sleep mode.

EDIT
It only seems to happen when I fire it when coming out of sleep mode. If I just do a quick press and release it and then fire this doesn't happen.

This is normal behaviour with all DNA20s, it's more noticeable with a removable battery than a soldered battery for some reason.

i;m using AW and Efest batteries.
this is happening during regular use. not when coming out of sleep.
maybe batteries are bad. they charge fine up to 4.1v and are less than 6 month old
the funny thing is that it is intermittent for the same battery, during a vaping session
never happens with the provari. and i rarely go above 14w with the dna20.
given this, what is the "Best" battery for the dna20?

Just want to double check, but a 10A battery will be alright for firing a 0.8-1ohm coil @ 30W, correct? Fed the numbers into a calc and they seem all good, but I was a little surprised that it was the case. People seem to make a big fuss about these 30A batteries.

the dna30 has a auto-safety feature so if it's too much amps and the battery can't handle it it won't fire, but i saw some yt webcast with brandon saying that they recommend anything over 20 watts to have at least a minimum of 12A, he said that zen and a couple other people have reported using 18490 batteries @ 30 watts but the battery life will be horrendous anyways, I had a dna20 running in 18490 mode vaping at 20 watts and the battery life was pretty bad, I can only imagine how short lived 30 watts would be

I just sat here and read several hundred posts. I should have done this before ordering my Futura on January 30th. I had heard anecdotally that Nexgen was having customer service and communication troubles when they launched the DNA20 version. But when I (a) saw the shipping times were 1-2 weeks from point of order and (b) was convinced by some influential vaping folks to hang in there - I assumed that these problems would have been resolved by now. I sent Jon an e-mail requesting status on 2/11/2014 and then again via the website contact form late last week. I haven't heard a single peep out of anyone. My order is 2139. I'm doubtful that I will receive a reply from Jon let alone my order in the next 2-4 weeks. Sad thing is that I was very excited by the idea of this product and now I'm feeling bummed out that my money and support doesn't afford me any courtesy. I'm going to hold out for a while longer, but if I decide to cancel my order I don't even know how that would happen since I don't seem to be getting any replies.

Like I said, did just the same as you ankush. Jon did actually reply to one of my mails. Like I allready said, should be shipped the week after next. I know it`s very annoying to hear nothing from them and it shouldn`t be like that but let`s all just wait it out for another month or so. I`m sure we`ll all be happy that beautifull day when we`ll be in af`s position. Good things come to....
As for the `check battery`, I have the same thing with my vaporshark and the bat is soldered inthere. I don`t think its a problem

I have a feeling that the current delays might be partly a result of the DNA30 getting released and a rush of orders for that. They also had some down time in there because they ran out of DNA20 and then had to wait for the DNA30 to continue producing new mods. We really haven't heard from Jon since before they came out, other than second hand reports via people who have been in contact with him. I think this is a good mod for folks who really aren't time sensitive but if you want something NOW, not such a good choice.

I'm in the "Take however long you need to get it right and live up to your goals when you first announced the company" camp personally.

Hang in there. I already have my DNA20 Futura and went through this with that one. I like it so much I ordered a DNA30 version, even though I know it won't come right away. That should tell you something. It is worth the wait!!

Agreed. I'm not defending the guy or the company, but I think this delay is already partially due to the dna30 short supply right now...same with other dna30/dna20 manufactures...

For the record, I have 2 Futura DNA20 (gave 1 to my son). They are great mods.

Jon don't seem to reply to emails in order, it took a little while for me to receive a reply even though it seemed from reading posts here that people that sent emails after me received reply before me. Ankush, just hang in there a little longer mate. Things seem to be rolling now so a bit more time either way and you'll receive your device. And I ordered (2110) knowing by reading here that a delay was expected even when the website was showing 1-2 weeks delivery time. Now I just am happy that I was able to place an order before closing.

I understand the sentiment about waiting for the product, but how hard is it to communicate these days? I'm not even asking for a personal e-mail - send out a mass e-mail to your customers explaining that there's a delay because of the DNA30 chips with approximate ETAs based. Or - if it's specific to certain colors then explain that. Not communicating at all shakes the confidence of the customer on whether the company will be there if we need help with the product after receiving it.

What happens if I get my Futura and it has a defect out of the box? How about 2 months from now? Do I sit around and hope that they will get back to me? Rip Trippers did a good video about customer service recently. It reminded me of what I already know. If a company doesn't realize that their customers are their most important asset and they lack good customer service, then it will invariably reflect on the design and build of the product.
