I've always kinda been on the lookout for an 18mm atty.
(you know - nice fit on a Reo grand "deck"...)
Since you're considering two options, you should know that there have been a couple approaches to that concept - using one "deck". Some atties have come with an optional "slam cap" - basically a shortened top cap intended to reduce the size of the chamber. And some have come with an insert - to take up space inside the chamber, sometimes blocking off an entire side for single-coil users.
I think you might get real creative with an atty that had two different style caps.
And yes - you'll get a dozen different opinions about the best way to do air intake and airflow control - and I don't think there IS a "best" way for everyone...
The fact is though - there's only a few atomizers designed for bottom-feeding, and most of them are European, small diameter, and tight draw. You make a great squonk atty at 18, 20, or 22, with good airflow, and you could sell them.
Think of all those people buying the Kanger Dripbox! That atty sucks - people are buying the
device, liking the squonk, and looking around for a better atty!
