Well, I'll try this again. I had a long intro post typed in, but when I submitted it , I got the "not logged in" error and lost it.

Anyway, I'll try to be brief.
First, a little about myself. I'm 55 and have been smoking for over 40 years, with a few attempts at quitting in between. I have a wife of 26+ years and 2 young daughters (6 and 2.9). Took us 20 to have our first, thought it would take another 20 for the second....WHOOPS!
I'm thinking of trying vaping to help quit smoking, since my BIL showed me his eCig. My Doctor also mentioned them, along with the "usual suspects" of smoking cessation aids, all expensive. I did try the patch, once, but still had cravings.

I've been looking for a local supplier here, as I can't order anything online. I did find a place that sells them, but haven't been able to get there, yet.

I see most here have been successful. So much to consider, though, a lot more than I thought. I will say, from the multitude of posts I've read so far, you're a very supportive group. (Thanks Google.)

One question I have is, has anyone quit vaping as well as smoking? My wife has concerns, as do I, that I will be trading one addiction for another. The startup expense look steep, but less so in the long run, depending on supplies/GAS, (oh sorry, musicians illness ) than tobacco and tubes. I roll my own, so it's a lot cheaper than TM's, but still too much $ wasted. I'm also getting tired of running out of tobacco and having to bum smokes or worse, find butts on the street to get it from. YUCK! (Yeah, I'm one of those. )
Well, enough about me, how's everyone else doing?

Welcome, Ayce!

Once you have 5 posts under your belt, you'll be able to post in other areas and you'll have an easier time locating fellow vapers in Canada to help you with locating supplies and the ins-n-outs of ordering.

I, too, tried the patch long ago and the cravings were insufferable. Sure, I was getting nicotine but that wasn't where I got the enjoyment from smoking - it was the feeling from inhaling, and that's were vaping came in to save the day for me. It's not an identical sensation, but it can be pretty close with the right hardware and 'software', so here I am! Haven't touched a smoke since I got my second starter kit (first kit was a Blu, and I prefer to not count that one).

Again, welcome, and make yourself at home!

Re trading one addiction for another - yes most do. However you are trading breathing carbon monoxide, cyanide, formaldehyde, and almost 4000 other chemicals for inhaling vapor of just glycerin (of one or two kinds), flavoring, nicotine, and optionally some distilled water or alcohol (sometimes used to thin thicker higher VG juices).

Also, with e-cigarettes you can work on lowering your nicotine level all the way to zero or at least to a level that is lower than any cigarettes. If you use some self control (and I have little) but a bit of self control to not vape all the time, not escalate you dependence on TH or nicotine then you can feel good about your switch. I was able to do this, even with the small amount of self-control I have. I just leave the ecigs in another room so I have to go there to vape and with that alone I am only vaping every 20 minutes or so, and usually for fewer drags than a cigarette.

We know from the way our health improved that this is good swap. I can now go up stairs without getting out of breath. My sinuses cleared up. I don't spend the first 1/2 hour of waking up coughing. My skin is a healthy pink. My taste buds and sense of smell are back and food tastes great! And I don't smell like an ashtray.

Welcome Aboard, Ayce! So cool about your little ones. :) (and i thought our 7yr wait was an eternity!) as far as quitting vaping is concerned, i don't think you'll get many responses from people who have quit smoking and vaping, as most don't post here anymore. although i haven't quit vaping, i have managed to steadily decrease my nicotine. i started out at 18mgs, and i now vape 3mgs most often, and zero mgs at night. i'd like to quit eventually; not so much due to health concerns, but rather, monetary concerns, lol.

Welcome, yes you can quit smoking and vaping it's been done. Even if you stuck with vaping, it's got to be better then not trying and smoking the rest of your life. I tried all of the other NRT's multiple times until vaping and in a little over two months I am down from 24mg to 8mg liguid and not one analog.

It can be expensive to get into vaping, but it can also be very inexpensive. If you spend some time and research your options you can get cost down pretty low. Check out the vendors and watch for sales and use the coupon codes. Might have to get hardware from one and liquid from another. Most people are impaitent and just jump right in and end up buying something they don't like for too much.

Better yet you could wait for a new vaporer to flick their brand new e-cig out the car window by accident.

Never thought of that, LOL.
