hello!
i've been using a vaporizer for the past month, and have successfully quit smoking cigarettes. i'm the only person i know who uses a vaporizer, and i'm glad i found these forums.
i'm using the Ego tank "cigarette", and i really like it. however one of my atomizers doesn't really deliver a decent hit, while the other performs exceedingly well. i've been cleaning them regularly with a syringe and isopropyl, and have been dry vaping minimally. i understand some may consider this less than ideal, but it's the method i've chosen.
the problem atomizer has been performing poorly straight out of the starter kit, and i was wondering if any experienced users had any advice as to how i can potentially fix this piece. the vapor it produces tastes slightly stale, though the same liquid in the other atomizer tastes perfectly fine.
thanks.

Personally I do not clean with what I wouldnt vape (your choice of alcohol) I use Vodka but a LOT will reccomend everclear for cleaning, even if I am to rinse it and dry it I personally would use what I would eat in this case. If I am wrong someone will chime in here I am sure.... I like cartos better than attys though I do have some attys that I use to test new flavors or for those times when i do not want to fill a carto, Cartos hold a lot of juice depending on the one you choose, I like fluxomizers but many people like the boge 2.0 cartos. I like the carto for the taste I find i do not get the same vape out of an atty unless I am dripping. Everyone is different I have found though (the boges may be great I havent tried them) and it might take trying something new to find "your thing". OH yeah congrats on finding the ECF and your choice to vape!! (almost forgot that part.)

Can you contact the vendor and express your concern? Maybe they'll switch out that atomizer. It sounds like it's a dud. No matter how clean you get it, sounds like a dud.

And +1 for LilyBear's advice. Rubbing alcohol is poisonous to ingest. Her vodka or PGA suggestion for cleaning your attys is spot on imo.

Welcome! Im a noob too but i got a new ego that tasted kinda nasty. im in aa so i dont keep vodka in the house, lol. no, really. I used warm water and a denture cleaning tab overnight twice and after it dried it tasted fine. the cheap tabs are not as good. and my atty tasted minty fresh!
switching from smoking to vaping has been the smartest move ive made in a long time. Happy vaping!

im sure the atomizer you got with the kit is of a higher ohm rating, meaning it will not perform well at the voltage that the starter kit can put out. the vapor is probably light and unfulfilling as well.

many people who i recommend starter kits too take kindly to dual coil cartomizers. Cartomizers - Smok Tech Cartomizers - e-Vape Kits try them out. they are very popular and work well in a wide range of voltages. im sure you will be happy with them.

PM me if you have any questions.

Enjoy the wonderful world of ECF!

also, i've read of using vinegar to clean an atomizer, does anyone have any thoughts on using that instead of pga or a harsh alcohol?

You can read for days here about cleaning attys :) Search 'clean atomizer'... Hot vinegar bath works great especially with a foul juice odor in an atty. Others fill with baking soda, add vinegar, put thumb over the top and get a little volcano going. Denture cleaner tablets are popular sonic jewelry cleaners (yep, I bought one) and the list goes on. I read here (dang it I can't find that post to give credit) to simply rinse in hot water each evening, blow out the water and they'll be ready in the morning. Can't believe I spent Sunday afternoons cleaning attys. I rinse daily and don't need to deep clean.

1) ISO is fine. Just blow it out well, let it dry... whatever. It won't hurt you. I don't want to get into a long discussion, but as long as you let it evaporate, blow it out, it's fine. A small amount that's left... if any...gets metabolized and won't hurt you. All alcohol is technically poison... including the drinkable ones.

Just don't confuse rubbing alcohol and pure ISO ... in other words... some formulations sold as rubbing alcohol have oils or other stuff in them. The ingredient list should say 91% Isopropyl alcohol and Distilled Water AND THAT'S IT. Blow it out, and get rid of as much as you can. It will 100% evaporate if you give it time ... with zero residue.

2) The atty may be different ohms, or may be a dud. You should have spares.

3) There are many cleaning methods. I use warm water rinse/blow out. If that doesn't work... ISO.

He's using tank atomizers. I think people pull out the spike plate when cleaning. And some need to reposition the wick of those attys though I don't know how. Search Youtube for tank atomizer, clean tank atomizer, clean Ego-T, Ego-T wick, tank atomizer wick, etc. because I think somebody said there are some videos.

Some people have problem with keeping tank attys clean or with the wicks. Some switch to using cartomizers (what most people use). Boge 510 cartos are most popular for 510 and Ego.

Erictho... had the same problem with my eGo T kit. One atomizer was fine, the other not so much. But I didn't have the taste difference problem. I was switching the carts back and forth between the two. I learned on the forum that the spindles can be different sizes so I have separate carts for both. Blue for one, clear for the other. That way I don't get them confused and put the carts with the bigger holes punched in them on the atty with the smaller spindle and vice versa, causing poor hits and juice everywhere. As for the taste, I dunno. But I agree with the person that said to contact the vendor and see if they'll replace it. Worth a shot.
