Hello Fellow Vapers!

I am a fairly experienced Vaper (vaped off and on since early 2010), but a brand new non-smoker (put out my last cigarette on Jan. 31st, 2013 at 11:59pm), so I'm finally making the transition over to vaping full-time.

A little history: ordered my first e-cig (a blu-cig starter kit) in January of '010, and quickly realized they sucked. A few months later I tracked down a gas station a few cities away that sold 510 kits, and upgraded to that. Shortly afterward I discovered this forum, and also cignot.com, the site from which I began regularly ordering juice, replacement batteries and atomizers. I never upgraded from the 510, and eventually my interest in vaping sizzled out, whereupon I promptly spent six months or more without even touching the stuff.

So back to the present, about a month ago my interest in vaping started to rekindle, in direct proportion with my rising desire to quit smoking. I came back on the forums, started looking around, and realized how much the landscape had changed in the last few years. I was immediately so overwhelmed with all the new jargon to decipher, products to consider, and retailers to purchase from that it sent my head spinning.

After buckling down and doing hours of studying and research on the forums, I feel a little less like a caveman in a cell phone store, and more like an informed consumer considering his options. I ultimatley want a Provari, but that's going to take some saving up, so in the meantime I think I'll be happy with an Ego Twist (or two) and an Ego-C Upgrade Passthrough Battery, along with some mini vivi novas and stardust clearomizers. Which brings me to the issue at hand.

Due to budget constraints, I have thus far only been able to purchase two stardust clearomizers, one Low Resistance and one normal. After trying the sample flavors at DFW Vapor, they let me fill up the stardusts with my two favorite flavors for free! Unfortunatey I didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to afford the passthrough battery until I got to the checkout, so I ended up unexpectedly taking just the clearomizers home.

Even though I was doubtful, I decided go ahead and try my old 510
battery with my new clearomizers, and Viola! It worked! The Low Resistance one gives better drags, of course, but the Normal one works fine too. Of course it looks silly as hell, but it works!

Now on to my question: is it safe? I remember reading something about how LR atties can be dangerous if they draw more amps than the battery can give or something like that. Does that apply in my situation? Also, is it true that LR atties have a shorter lifespan?

Any advice, help or feedback is both welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,
Shaun

P.S. - Apologies for the novel of a post. If you made it this far, congratulations!

The LR is definitely going to kill the battery quicker but it should be safe. Id look into a cheaper mod until you get the coin for that Provari. The VAMO and the zmaxx get great reviews and i love my VAMO. Its running about sixty bucks right now from smoktech and its also variable wattage, something the Provari has yet to deliver (;

Thanks for the replies everyone. A few questions though:

Caridwen - The cigarette sized 510s, are those the 510 mini batteries? https://www.cignot.com/product_p/510-bat-tre.htm is what I have.
I think I have noticed it draining the battery a bit quicker, but then again these batteries never lasted that long to begin with. I still have four of my old 510 batteries that still work (the others had to be tossed once they stopped holding a charge), so I rotate those out.

Jadesrayne - Thank you for showing me that volt/ohm chart! I am saving that to my computer immediately. Also, that nano clearo looks cool on the 510, but I can't wait to get an Ego Twist or something similar to it.

Bookworm - I never really knew about charge cycles. Do you think that's why I had to throw my old batteries out, they were out of charge cycles? Also, is there any way to find out how many charge cycles you can expect to get from a battery like Ego Twist?

DesmondTheMoonbear - I haven't done any research on the VAMO or the zmaxx, but I'll look into them. Sixty bucks is still kinda high. My next purchase will definitely be the Ego upgrade Pass-Thru Battery, it's around 25 bucks and you don't have to shell out more for a charger. That can for sure get me by while I save for something better. :)
