Your mom said not to say...
Well it wasn't invented for use as an electronic cigarette so the price is not in line with E-Cigs, it's useful for herbs though and I do like the looks of it but it was more than I wanted to spend so I ended up with a different model vaporizer. I would love to try out that model though, even the older one since that was the one I looked into buying. Let me know if you wish to sell your older one...

Theres some info in the guide linked from my sig, I'm not one to do 'reviews' as such. I think theres only so much value you can gain from watching somebody suck from a PV and blow out vapour but I might do some more vids showing how to use the unit and the various materials you can vape in it, from tobacco to shisha to e-liquid.

It is expensive but it doesnt take batteries or atomizers. Every ecig I bought I ended up spending more in total than I did on my original iinhale. In the long term it works out economical and the unit has a 2 year warranty.

It is very different from an ecig though. Its a true portable vaporizer.

I hate to be the only one to point this out, but as devices go, this one belongs on the next Harold and Kumar movie.

Everyone here realizes that this is *hardly* an e-cig right? I mean I could dump e-liquid on my exhaust manifold after a long drive and vape like that too..but that's not what my exhaust manifold nor this device is designed for.

This device is a ...., probably available at the more pricy head shops.

I expect there's a lotta weed burners out there you *could* use as an e-cig..I'm just stunned that anyone would market this..or recommend this, as an e-cig lol.

Its marketed as a portable personal vaporizer not an e-cig

You think this is a ....? I am sorry to point out that this is not a ...., it is a true portable vaporizer.

I am constantly surprised that vapers miss entirely the concept and purpose of a vaporizer. The herb heads long ago realised the value of vaporization is a harm reduction strategy. Plus this isnt in danger of being banned. Its a shame smokers miss the trick completely. Wake up and enjoy the coffee :D

The beauty of the Iolite is that it can vape e-liquid, and it can vape tobacco, and it can vape molasses, and it can vape homebrew with no damge, and it has no consumable parts. Its not an ecig, and that is its strength. It is a completely different world for vapers to enjoy.

Worried about an ecig ban? Not me, I have my Iolite

No problem at all, I'm glad to help. There is very little info around concerning vaporizers for smokers and ex smokers so I am just attempting to start filling a void :)

It is indeed a learning curve, just as swapping from analogs to ecigs is one and it takes time to settle down and get the most from it.

Hoping someone is around to help with my NEW iolite .. Pretty much just staring at it right now.

My iolite arrived today and I had to wait until after work to go on my venture for everything .. Found glycerine and I hope it is the correct one, it only says Wilton Glycerine on the bottle .. Doesn't mention PG or VG .. just 'restores consistency to icing colors." Then some dietary info.

Next stop was for butane and the last for cotton balls. Found butane in some small bottles, just larger than a tube of lipstick.

Wasn't sure how much glycerine to put on the cotton .. does the screen need to come out ?? So I left it in. Got the cotton sort of moist .. Too much cotton ? Too little cotton ?? Then added a few drops of juice to the cotton. Filled the iolite with butane .. let it heat up and took a hit .. COUGH COUGH .. maybe too big .. didn't see vapor leave my mouth, but my eyes were closed from coughing .. .

One comment .. NICE AND WARM .. much more like a analog than ecig.

Turned off the Iolite and in about 60 seconds in the off position, I heard it sound like it was heating again. But it stopped and cooled off.

I am confused about the Piezo button. Push it only ONCE ?? that's it ?? Frog had a manual .. maybe it was here .. going to look there for some help too.

I need a teacher !!

Just watched the video .. The box may have been opened and pieces exchanged on mine .. My mouthpiece has the OLD plastic joints. Not the metal as on the new one.

Hi HS

The metal threaded stems are only just being sent out from the manufacturer so most Iolites coming from dealers will still have the old style stem. You can get new stems from my-iolite.com if you want the new style. I had an old style stem for months on my iinhale without breaking it, they are just fine but some users are breaking them.

Wilton glycerine is just fine to use, thats decent stuff. What mg e-liquid are you using?

You don't need much cotton. What I do (and I will do a vid) is make a little roll about an inch long and 1/8 inch wide and lay it round in a circle like a donut either in the bottom of the bowl around the pin or against the upper gauze. The more you use the tighter the draw will get so its a case of experimenting until its the way you prefer it.

When you turn the unit on, you should hear the gas hiss. It will take one or two clicks of the igniter to start the catalytic reaction. In the indicator window you should see the blue glow that withing a second or two turns bright orange
ii2.jpg

After 30 seconds (ish) the Iolite is up to temperature and the gas will shut off. It will then hiss for a few seconds every 30 seconds or so to maintain the temperature. When you shut the gas off, there will still be butane in the system and it will run on for a couple of hisses until the fuel is all gone. In time you will get used to shutting off the gas before you are finished so it runs out at the right time.

You can still find my manual over on my new site at Xsmoker - Real tobacco smoking alternatives. This is where I will be posting new stuff about the iolite.

Hope this helps a little, it takes time to get used to using the iolite (just as ecigs do) but it is well worth the effort.

Best wishes

Andy

Oh, my goodness. I'm just stunned that anyone would pan this product without having first tried it. :(

I've had my Iolite since the beginning of June. Originally, I bought the Iolite as my ultimate insurance policy . . . no batteries or atomizers, and butane will always be available. I prefer to use it with liquid and cotton, but if liquid containing nicotine becomes impossible to get, I can use it with molasses or, if I find nicotine necessary, tobacco. While I personally would prefer not to use tobacco, it is reassuring to me to know that it is an option if regulation of the e-cig gets out of control.

But even though it was purchased as "insurance," the Iolite has a valued place in my arsenal. In fact, while it's not my main vape, I use it almost every day. The vapor is warm and soothing, totally unlike any electronic cigarette I've tried (and believe me when I say I've tried more than a few).

It is a shame that more people don't seem to understand the critical difference between vaporization and combustion from a harm reduction standpoint. :(
