So.........you are still shopping, okay one device off the list.
Each user has their needs. One device rarely meets all expectations is all I'm saying.

nickel occ coils listed on ebay.ca are 20$ each pack before shipping. I pay 13 for regular occ coils/pack. No thanks.

Lets look:
OCC Kanthal $13 pk. (5pk?) avg user - 5 weeks
OCC NI on TC $20 pk.(5pk?) avg user - 10 weeks
13+13(10 weeks) $26
Something to think about.

Also as others have tested, it seems if careful, you can use your Kanthal in TC Mode and get the Vape temps you desire(like having PWM) if you need less power.

Simply put, the mod just might do what you assume it will not.:)

I was interested in the Kanger KBox Mini, for a single 18650 removable battery mod, in a tiny size, but still no word on any 510 adjustable pin update. Then I saw the IPV D2, first glance looked as good or better. The lack of PVM to buck down voltage is a bit of a bummer, but looking at the Ohms Law calculator, it may still work for me, as I don't really like high wattage sub-ohm vaping.

Using the off charger voltage of 4.2, since that would be the high limit (granted as the voltage decreases the wattage limits would change). Let's use some Kanger pre-built coil resistances, since new vapors may not be into coil rebuilding.

4.2 volt baseline.
.5 ohms = 35.28 Watts
1.2 ohms = 14.7 Watts
Roll your own coil at 1.0 ohms = 17.64 Watts

These wattages are what you will be vaping at, with NO step down "buck" circuitry, at the lowest wattage settings, not in TC mode. This will undoubtedly confuse new device owners, which is a major downside in my opinion. Even the now older iStick 30 could buck or PVM voltage. Since I'm more of a low wattage person, I may still buy the D2, and see how the TC works with the .15 Kanger TC pre-builts. And try the work around mentioned here of using my Kanthal builds in TC Mode to buck down if that technique really works. Or maybe the new iStick 40 TC mod, looks just as small in size, I'll have to revisit the PBusardo video review on the iStick 40 TC, as I don't recall if it was able to buck or PVM the voltage.

Someone asked earlier in this thread, now that all the hype is over with the D2, what shall we talk about?

How bout this:

The KOOPOR Mini 60W with TC.

This one seems to be dual circiut (boost/buck). Hope that's not just in temp.

And a good price.

Looks good... Sounds like the Smok M80 Plus I bought with TC. I hope this one will actually have real usable one that actually works.

The 'Burgh, PA.
So at this point, TC is half baked. Not ready for prime time due to cost/hassle etc.

I won't touch nickel anymore - I don't have an allergy or anything, it's just not possible to get the vape I'm used to on 28 or 30 gauge wire.

I wonder about this...

Danger of Vaping with Nickel Wire (Ni200)

Errrr I have watched this pompous, patronising and I'll- informed dirge and don't recollect there being any mention of the ipV D2...

Also wasted a few minutes of my life listening to what he had to say. Guy would make a Great ANTZ Campain Manager. Lets see if we toss in a few We just don't know's and a it might, here and there, we could convince a few people.

Well, when he implied NI200 is water soluble I almost choked laughing. He should have stuck with liquid soluble as Acid can come in liquid form and Powdered Nickel will dissolve rather quickly.

Yep, just what I want. A Shop owner doing the job of a Scientist.

Hoping tomorrow will be a better Day.
D2 coming
Holster for D2 (Maxpedition 5") should arrive
Filing for early SS retirement

Life is ________________
I'll decide that later.

Well, due to the brand name and the form factor, I will keep watching this thread before I buy anything. I enjoy reading your posts about new mods because the info is always well considered and fair.
BUT, you and I don't have the same requirements for a mod. You preferred the IPV mini 2 and I still use my IPV mini 1 because of the PVM mode. In my subtanks with OCC coils, and the thick max vg juice I vape, low watts = coils lasting longer than 2 days.
So if the D2 doesn't do low watts, it's not good for ~my purposes~. For me, the TC would be a gimmick until supplies are more readily available in rural eastern Canada. (also: 1 USD = 1.31 CAD)

Didn't mean to cause any argument with anyone. All info is valuable.

No problem and I agree 100% we all have our personal needs.
Your choice of the IPV mini is very understandable and I did use Both of mine until they became my Wife's personal preference.
I'd give anything up for her, my Soul Mate for life.:)
Oh, wait, I have.
err:blink:

Anyway, I will figure out as much as possible in the next few days and pass along anything I might discover that could help.
