I really like the Mini 2 but it keeps spitting at me. I've tried everything from priming the coil
to filling the tank with a new coil and letting it sit upright for days and I get the same result. I went back where I bought it and was told it was recommended to only use the nautilus at 13 w but that didn't help. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? When it spits hot juice on me, it's painful!

It's a sign the coil is flooding. Taking a real hard draw can cause this. A bad coil (rare but happens) can also cause this. When I use my Mini's and they start to gurgle (a sign it's flooding) I turn the entire tank and mod upside down and take a medium draw. Doing this burns off the excess juice and keeps the juice in the tank from reaching the weep holes to re saturate the wick. You "may" get some juice down the tube into your mouth but just spit it on a paper towel and you'll be fine.

I wouldn't listen to the 13 watt advice. The rule of thumb for any tank is to start low, take a hit and then bump it up. If it gets too warm or starts to taste burnt then back it down. I have vaped my Nautilus Mini's at 15 watts with no issues. The numbers are just a guide unless you're really getting out of range (which will burn up a coil in no time flat). I also vape different juices at different wattages. You'll just have to explore with the technique of starting low to find your own sweet spot.

I have 1/2 dozen or so Nautilus tanks, they can be finicky. As others have mentioned it sounds like your coil is flooding. To hard of a draw, thin juice or not optimum voltage can cause problems like this.
    • I use the largest air flow setting, even mark its location on the bottom so I can return to it after a refill
    • I'll FILL a new coil with juice and wait a few minutes for it to soak in before with the screen pointed away from me, blow hard on the other end to clear any remaining extra juice
    • The 1.8 ohm coils work well from 3.5-5V~5.5V, I've not used the 1.6's. (Lower voltage rating)
    • With a fresh tank+coil I start at 3.5V and work my way up from there
    • Nautilus tanks need a light, slow and long draw
    • You need to be careful to not spill juice into the air tube while filling, I tear off a chunk of paper towel to twist/roll up to clean the tube
    • My experience is limited mostly to very thick VG juices, thinner blends might require using smaller air flow settings
Best of luck! The Nautilus series tanks are highly recommended for their reliability, mostly leakless, low wattage requirements and minor customization options.

I used a Nautilus full size tank for a few months and it floods every so often just by nature. Not a ton of juice but enough to get spit back. You could try firing the coil a full second before you attach your lips to burn off some of the excess or simply give it a little puff inward before taking your drag. I found the 1.6 coils worked better for it in my opinion. Order coils for it online in advance as they are much cheaper online than in any vape shop I've ever been in. $2 vs. $4.50. Welcome to the forum.

Hi Linda, and welcome to the board. Tell me more about the PV/VG mix in your juice. Getting pops like that usually means excess juice in the vape chamber. Does it go away after a few puffs, or doe it do it all the time?

Sometimes it goes away, other times it doesn't. The juice I use is 60% PG and 40% VG. I had no idea the juice would make a difference. What should I look for? Obviously, I don't understand a lot of the technical stuff. I'm surprised for the quick and multiple responses I've gotten on this site and thank you for your assistance! It's greatly appreciated.

This sounds like an easy and quick fix on the run and I'll be trying it for sure! Thanks so much for your help!

I started out at 17.5 but went down to 13 and it satisfies me. I'll be trying new juices and watts until I find the sweet spot. I had no idea there were so many things to consider when vaping! Thanks for your help!

Probably too much juice in the chamber. It might be because the coil is not properly seated in the tank, or maybe you have a bad coil. You should be able to vape it dry, though, so it stops popping at you.

I like the Nautilus because it lasts me all day without refilling so I want to continue using it. The Mini 2 manual left a lot to be desired. My unit is set on 5.1 v and there is no mention on how to change it and I'm afraid to experiment. Do you know how? I think with all your advice I've gotten on my problem, I have many things to try and hopefully end up with the desired result. Thank you so much!!!

I'll do some searching for the 1.6 coils today. I'm using the 1.8 Nautilus replacement coils right now and I've gone thru so many that my cost sky-rocketed and I pretty much lost all my savings I realized when I quit smoking. Thank you!!!

    Hello and welcome Linda
I purchased three Nautilus tanks from Fast Tech.
After using the first one for half the day I knew I was not a fan of the Nautilus and sold the other two.
Some like and want that tighter draw, and that's what you get even on the largest air flow setting from the Nautilus.
My 1st thought on the spitting,,,
( Place a paper towel around air flow area at the base--Face upward and blow hard. ) This will blow out any excess ejuice .)

    my 2nd thought is,,,
You might like the Kangertech Nano or Mini with the larger ohm coil ( 1.4 - 1.7 ohm ). Kangertech has new vertical coils at 1.5 ohm that are designed for the mouth to lung hit. The Nano & Mini have a tighter air flow on the smallest setting
