Darryl, that chart is from the prehistoric days. It refers to filled cartos like Boges. That is not the chart that crxess was referring to.There are several charts in your link, so to make it easier for ppl here is the chart crxess is referring to:

Why don't any of these charts go into the sub ohm ranges? Especially with so many vapors venturing there now...
crxess: As for your suggestions for the KF and Orchid (Resistances and Wattages); aren't those subjective as well? Or averages from experienced builders/vapers?

:lol
Maybe 2.5w/3w

...The sub-ohm chart is down the page - Scroll!!!
... Is there some formula for that, or is that also subjective? I'd like to complete this chart and post it here.
... Press the button, take a hit, and decide if we like it. No buttons, no charts, no display screens. In us we must trust.

Help... my mini keep shutting off every so often. When ths coils resistance is too low will the mod just shut off? Only thing I can think of is my .4 ohm coil drops down and the system shuts down. Any ideas?
IPV Mini specs:
Loading resistance: 0.5 ohm -3.0 ohm
Output Voltage range: 3.0 V – 8.0 V
Output Wattage range: 5.0 w – 30 w
So it sounds like your coil is too low for the unit.

If my res is too low it tells me when i press the fire button and does not shut off. Mine has never turnes off unless i click it 5 times. You might want to send it in.Help... my mini keep shutting off every so often. When ths coils resistance is too low will the mod just shut off? Hello gents, ladies.
I really am new to the IPV mini, but not to vaping. I don't need or want a chart, but I would very much like to know why we have these two modes and what I might notice as the difference between the two, based on the same wattage in each?
So far, I'm not able to distinguish much of a difference in the vape. My current wattage setting is 8.4. (the coil is 1.9Ω) It appears that it's just ever so slightly more "powerful" of a hit when it's set on DC-DC.
I'm not looking for what I should set it on, but more of an understanding of both modes, which so far, have eluded me.![]()

Hi Kat.,
Now give that same wattage a try with a .8ohm coil. You would immediately notice a Vast difference.
That is the Why behind posting the Chart link.
Your 1.9ohm build is almost exactly 4.2v at 8.4 watts so there should be only the PWM pulse difference.
A .8ohm build at 8.4 watts would be well under 3 volts - The mini cannot go below 3.7ish in DC-DC (17.11v)
PWM allows the needed Drop.
1.7ohm is about as low as you can go without switching to PWM at that wattage.
Check/replace your Battery.
Shutting off is a sign of Battery Dipping - Over discharged, weak, damaged
Also clean both Battery Cap and upper contact and wipe battery ends on occasion.
Had I, I'm sure I'd notice a dif, but I only use stock coils. If my res is too low it tells me when i press the fire button and does not shut off. Mine has never turnes off unless i click it 5 times. You might want to send it in.
Thanks, crx-S. I have no .8ohm coil.Had I, I'm sure I'd notice a dif, but I only use stock coils.
What do you mean precisely by "Your 1.9ohm build is almost exactly 4.2v at 8.4 watts so there should be only the PWM pulse difference."? Are you suggesting that I leave it in DC2DC? As stated, the hit seems a bit more full, or powerful in that mode.
PWM is meant primarily for when you vape at a low enough wattage that your voltage is below that of the battery. DC-DC is for primarily when you are using a wattage that's over the voltage of your battery. PWM is Pulse Width Modulation, where the voltage will actually pulse or fluctuate at a high frequency.

Pbusardo has a nice explanation of PWM vs DC-DC here in his mini review:
Thank you, Darryl. I'll pay a bit of attention to Phil after some sleep, and over a nice cuppa.![]()
