irritation in the lungs triggering asthma?

Hello all,
I have been vaping now for about 1 month. I'm absolutely in love with it. I don't desire a cigarette at all. However, i'm about to throw everything in the trash.

I smoked for 18 years (half a pack a day) and I have never had such a reaction to cigarettes. My lungs tighten and i need to use my puffer (2-4 times a day). Something i haven't done without having a lung infection in a long time.

I've read about how to inhale (which i'm doing correctly), i've learned about pg allergies (which i have tried only vg juices), i've also tried no flavor (pure vg with nicotine), i've tried lower voltage and higher voltage trying to stay within ohm's law so to burn my juices nicely.

This morning i decided to try without nicotine and here is the bummer. It didn't trigger my lungs to hurt. So i tried lowering my nicotine by diluting already a low dose of 6mg to 3mg, then 1 mg and GUESS what its still irritating.

AM I DOOMED? IS THERE NOT A SOLUTION TO THIS?

i don't want to go back to smoking plus i love it so much i'm actually waiting for an istick 50w cuz i want to get into cloud chasing. If I can't handle a small cloud of vapor how will I handle a nice big cloud (yes i understand i can practice my cloud chasing without nicotine)? But then i'd be smoking again, defeating the purpose in my case of not smoking killer cigarettes.

I have the same problem. As soon as I start vaping no matter what time of day I immediately start weezing and tightness in my chest. I have to hit my inhaler as soon as I'm done and I've tried all kinds of different juices different vw you name it. I hope someone can enlighten this problem so we can continue enjoying vaping.

I have asthma and I find VG to be more troublesome than PG. VG makes my chest feel heavier and I think I use my inhaler more. It might be all in my head, who knows. But I feel better if I keep the PG higher in my juices. I've also found that the more water I drink, the less irritation I have.

I am less wheezy than when I smoked, so vaping is a win for me. I hope you can figure out a way to stay off the smokes!

hey staceybritt,
i just wanted to update you on my irritation of the lungs, since we seemed to have that in common.
i have found my solution.

i have recently gotten my istick 50w.
I am using a .5 ohm and burning at 20w.
in my tank i put 1ml of 8mg juice with 3ml 0mg juice mix up and i vape away. I am taking lung hits and my asthma problem has disappeared. when i take a mouth hit the irritation comes back.

i have tried a same ration with my ego in a smaller tank and i was still getting the irritation regardless of lung or mouth hits. I'm thinking that because i get a big airflow with my subtank and a very even burn with the istick its smoother.

i'm now making clouds like you wouldn't believe and finally my lungs are happy. its weird i know, u would think a smaller hit via lung or mouth to the lungs wouldn't make much of a difference but it does...

hope you can get the same results and if you like to make clouds ull be on ur way. i'm vaping all day and i have yet to use my asthma pump in 2 days of getting my istick..

I just started vaping a high PG mix today at a 70/30 blend. I've noticed this blend irritates my asthma. Previously I was vaping an 80/20 Vg/pg blend which didn't seem to irritate my asthma as much or at all, but wreaked havoc on the flavor output. I have an iStick 30w with a Protank 3 with 2ohm atty. I kept getting a nasty burnt taste when I'd fire at around 4.2-4.4 volts. I don't own an inhaler anymore because it's my belief that they only make your lungs weaker. Remember, pharmaceutical companies do not sell cures.

Best advice to the original poster is to exercise daily and practice drawing breath into your lungs with your diaphragm(your chest should barely even move when doing so). Inhale for 4-5 seconds and exhale for 3. It helps me and Ive had terrible asthma since birth and smoked a pack of menthols daily for ten years.

high vg does that to me as well. High pg makes me wheeze and drys out my nasal passage which can lead to a nasal infection then chest infection about a week later, so VG is the lesser of 2 evils for me

Still way better then smoking when I was getting really sick every season change and since vaping I have only been sick a maybe 3 times.

I found one of those nasal rinses can help with my dry nose from PG which is a saline and bi carb soda mix but its impossible to do out and about.

A netti pot helps withs with asthma ss well. I think it builds back your mucus membrane of your nasal passage so it can trap particles in the air more efficiently.

Are su
I try to keep low levels of PG in my juice. The higher I use the more it irritates me. I feel better with a subtank or an atty too, rather than my clearomizer.

Are subtank coils difficult to rebuild? I have a protank 3 atm. Looking to graduate to something with more airflow and more kick to my vape. You should reply with a message. Don't want this thread getting off-topic.

how about 2 mods... 1 for clouding at 0 nic and another to keep the nic in ( hi dose 24-36). When you get the urge to have a nic fix hit the second one on occasion and do just mouth nose ( dont inhale), the higher nic level will supply the nic you desire with less puffs...

okay... I see you found a solution... nix the above idea :)
