Is 100% PG responsible for no visible vapor in new e-cigarette or is it my cartomiser?

Hi all I'm Joe, 22, from very rainy (today) Leeds, England!

I've bought an ego-t e-cigarette and filled it with 100%pg cherry flavour, it has a harsh hit on the back of my throat and I can't take really long vapes, but when I breathe out nothing comes out except the taste. When I just puff into my mouth there is vapour though so I'm clearly absorbing what little vape I get, I'm just a bit concerned about the harshness but low vapour amount, is it bad?

I like the vapor so if I added some VG would that make it vape better?

or is there something cheaper/easier to get hold of while I run out of this batch?

Or am I just plain doing it wrong?

I believe you need to add at least enough vg to get to at least a 20% vg ratio. All pg has got to be very harsh. Vg is very cheap. Do you have a Walmart near you? Or a pharmacy? They would be your best bets for local vg (vegetable glyercin). The more vg the more vapor it will produce. The more vg the more the flavor may become muted, but in your case tamed down will be a good thing. Wait for more opinions on this. I normally vape at the most 80pg/20vg and my all day vape is 65/35 and I like 50/50.

Hi, Jrbrown, and welcome to ECF. PG will give you some vapor, even on the exhale. I've run across this phenomenon when I've overfilled my CE4s. That's also accompanied by gurgling and even getting juice coming into my mouth. If that is the case you can cure that by just toking on it until you do start getting vapor on the exhale. With the flavoring you're using - cherry - you should probably have that at no greater than 5-10%. Cherry is usually a pretty strong flavor, and it will get harsh if the flavor concentration is too strong. Also note that some cherry flavors carry the warning that they will damage plastic tanks. Be careful of that and use a glass tank, like a Kanger Pro or Anyvape Davide, or something else along that line. Hang in there! :vapor:

check the vendors listing where you got it from, when I see 100% Pg it's usually accompanied by a note like this

'This is an eJuice Doubler and is available in a 100%PG ratio.
It is designed to be mixed at 50% with an unflavored mixing liquid'

I have a preference for strong flavours at the moment whilst I'm trying to find some favs, so I go for a more 20/80 or 30/70 mix vg/pg.
I also like a nice throat hit.

Hi everyone! Thanks a lot for all the replies so quick!

The store didn't say anything about my batch being for mixing but they do sell a sliding scale of ratios, my lack of experience and limited research came up with VG clogging the atomiser faster and PG being 'cleaner' I just presumed full PG was good.
I also don't think it's the atomizer getting flooded etc as I have stripped it down and the atomiser was very clear, and I have changed atomizers 3 times to make sure too.

Basically, I think it was a rookie mistake and I'll just buy the same flavours but 100% VG from the same store (they have good deals) and mix them together.
I can tell the gingerbread one I bought could become a favourite if it vaped properly and wasn't so rough on my throat. (I am used to smoking strong cigarettes and pipes so I am used to a good hit on my throat but this is too strong!)

Thanks again and if there is anything else I would love to hear!

I am not sure what is going on with your juice/vapor. Perhaps you are drawing the vapor in deep in your lungs and holding it too long?

PG DOES produce vapor. Quite a bit of it. I DIY my own menthol flavor and currently am using 85% PG and 15% VG. I use 5% total flavorings mixed with the base PG/VG and they are PG based...so I use a calculator to get the correct ratio. I get masses of vapor...and masses of TH too (but I want that kick to the back of the throat). The flavoring you use can add to the harshness of your hit. Harshness is not a one trick pony: there could be a couple of factors involved. Nicotine strength, any "coolants" (like Koolada) that is added, type of flavor, and yes..PG does have a stronger TH, but it's not "harsh" without the other contributing factors.

I've vaped all PG juices (just nic, PG and flavoring) and gotten perfectly good vapor...plenty in fact. I add a little bit of VG to my DIY recipe primarily to punch up the "cloud factor" just a bit, but it's pretty much cosmetic. VG is a bit sweet, mutes flavor and has a somewhat "oily" feel in the back of the throat. For some people VG irritates (clogs) the sinuses and airways and some people even say it makes their chest feel tight. I personally don't care for it except in very small amounts due to getting an unpleasant sinus reaction to it...and also the added sweetness it imparts is unwelcome for my tastes. Some people feel strongly against PG. It's really pretty much what your body will tolerate and what you LIKE. Bottom line is both VG and PG produce vapor when you vape.

Flavoring usually about 5- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.
Many vapers lately have been moving to a 50/ 50 PG/ VG ratio because it gives a smoother and less harsh vape.
Realize if you add any VG it will dilute the nic level and the flavor.
