Is anyone else tire of arguing with friends about the "dangers" of vaping?

I smoked a pack a day for 20 years. My nasty habit provided it's fair share of standing in the rain, constant seclusion from groups and a horrible smokers cough. I finally found a safe alternative and couldn't be happier. My lungs feel great, I've regained my sense of smell and taste and I no longer stink like an ash tray. Why is the media making my friends and family think that vaping is no better than smoking?

That's a good question. I get weird looks from people at work all the time when I vape. I've even seen a smoker hold their breath when my vape cloud blew their direction once outside.

As far as I know, the first thing to point out is there's no "tar". You're not combusting anything, so you don't wind up with that nasty, black goo in your lungs. Want proof? That's why you can smell again.

Point out the four main components of eLiquid. PG is used in asthma inhalers and hospital air purification systems. VG is used in a lot of things like medical vaporizers(and enemas). Nicotine gives you super powers like X-Ray vision, and then stare at their pants.

I had a guy, today, tell me that vaping nicotine is still bad. I told him that it is a lot better than smoking and if we discuss it again, I will be very blunt about him not having his facts together. I said that I hope it will be a public place, too.

Usually, I just take it in realizing the person has problems and move away. But, he was a commonly-viewed knucklehead.

Oh, fodder for such situations...USA Today had an article today about all the pesticides in common fruits and vegetables. People should have better things to whine about.

I work with a lot of overeducated and underknowledged "scientists", so there have been some condescending comments about the "dangers" of vaping based solely on media disinformation (based on junk science and spin) ...

I only respond to the ones that imply a threat to others, usually the "second hand smoke" myth or the implication that I am "endangering" children ...

I ask specifically for a victim's name, so that I can confirm the allegation ...

of course, there is none to be given ...

Once people get an idea in their heads, it's hard to change their minds. The media has done its job well, that's for sure. I was encouraged to see the few Fox News clips someone shared on the General Discussion forum here. I'm hoping that those types of news stories will help. Fortunately, most of my friends and family members are very supportive of my choice.

I suddenly had an epiphany! Has anyone considered that all the bad propoganda about e-cigs is an attempt to keep the "still smokers" in fear of e-cigs?! Like..."Hey smoking is bad, but vaping is worse!"

Convince the folks who still smoke to believe that and big tobacco maintains their current customer base. Also any non-smoker who chooses to believe that nonsense will of course side with the "known" evil and continue recycling horrible information about e-cigs because they don't know jack**** about them!

Only those of us who have first hand experience using these devices KNOW FOR A FACT THAT VAPING IS SAVING OUR LIVES!
