Is ECF misbehaving?

I'm having intermittent problems posting to the forum. I get a lot of 503 page not found errors when trying to post and sometimes just moving around. Yesterday, the forum wouldn't even come up for me. I just figured it was maintenance time or something.

Anyone else?

At around 1am EST, the forum goes through a server backup, so you'll experience a bit of a slowdown. Usually only lasts less than a half an hour.

Whats that in UK time? ECF slows for me at about 8 - 9PM UK time but it recovers shortly after

Site act's tempermental. I get 503 redirects. This forum runs like crap on a stick. Sorry for being brutal but it's the truth.

yea, I'm on the site for less than 5 mins and it does that quite often. Happened just after I made that last post.

Same here. Off on through out the day. Thought it might be my wireless connection but no, ECF grinds to a halt but other sites are clicking right along.

Must be all those threads with 1800+ posts slowing it down right...

Happens to me quite often, too...usually when I am posting! I've learned to copy real quick before I hit submit because invariably I lose it to whatever glich is afflicting the forum

Pages do not load for me off and on throughout the day, at least ten times today alone. Often times i get "this page is not found" error. The worst is around 1am eastern time. I know that the issue is not my internet as other sites I am on are fine.

If you have firefox there is a real nice free addon called Lazarus. It is a form recovery and you will never have to copy/paste or retype a forum post again!

I've had that one but usually it already has posted and the server tells me I can't make post that close together? When it hangs I copy fast also but never needed it.

This site is the slowest site I frequent but with the hundreds of post being made and general traffic this place has It could be much worse. Those server(s?} have to be churning. It's not the slowest I've seen by any means. just the slowest I use regularly.

The popularity of these forums exploded. It increased way more than any of us expected. Which, isn't a bad thing at all. However, with more users, the better server you need, and although we just switched, the server just isn't powerful enough anymore to stay as fast as we would like. But rest assured, it will be looked into.

Cielo, thanks for the heads up on Lazarus. I have been experiencing the same problems, but they usually do not persist for long.

Pages load faster after 2AM EST. And if you really want speed, they load instantly at 4AM. LOL
