BTW, that battery pack will supply up to 1500ma (1.5 amps). More than enough to run a PT. I have one, but don't use it often.

With the exception of the shortie batteries, which either didn't work or worked badly from the beginning, I have all of my original batteries and they are in perfect working order. (8 of them; 5 XL's and 3 reg)

I never vape any one battery too much before recharging. I guess my mindset about batteries is that they will last longer if you don't discharge them below 70%. (We have a solar battery bank and that's the general rule of thumb if you want your batteries to last.)

sawlight - not sure if you know but the IMR batteries are not LifePo4 batteries. AW does sell those in another thread but only in R123's. My understanding of LifePo4's is that they have a much longer cycle life...they can be recharged more than 2000 times with up to an 80% discharge on each cycle. In addition they can be recharged faster than the other lithium chemistries. Anyone interested really needs to research LifePo4's....there is a ton of info out there.

The biggest problem with PV battery is the size. The battery in the XL is only 380ma's. Every time we vape we are drawing at least an amp from it. The more power you draw from a battery, the shorter its cycle life will be. I am surprised these batteries hold up as well as they do.

The only way around it is to buy or build a mod. I made a box mod using the AMC7135....since you are on CPF and have a love for flashlights I am sure you are familiar with them. I am using the 1050ma ones everyone gets from DX. When I vape I get a consistent 1050ma's going to the cartomizer and it works very well because every time I vape, I get consistent vapor no matter if I vape for a few seconds or 10 seconds. And it is consistent all day until the batteries run down...and that hasn't happened yet.

I am using 4 AAA Eneloops to power it but plan to convert over to LifePo4's whenever I get around to completing it. I kind of threw this together to test it out. Also I find I am not burning up as many carto's but I haven't figured out why. It could be that I am being more careful about keeping my cartos topped off. But I will tell ya something....running constant current to the carto produces tons of vapor, and because the current is regulated...the amount of vapor is consistent.

The downside to this is the size. There is no way to reasonably replicate what I have done in a PV battery unless you would be happy with about a half hour of usage. So until we get that miracle battery we are stuck with the other options.

380mAh - big difference. They'll deliver a LOT more than that into a short.

Remember that's continuous drain. Every time the atomizer shuts off the battery has a recovery cycle too.

Thank you Gazoo, that explained what I was missing!
I was really hoping to build a mod with a 10440, but you are hard pressed to find one with 500ma, they average 380ma, so I don't think it would be any better than the XL!

Yeah..I know..I have a bad habit of dropping the h . But still we are being hard on these little devils, some harder than others depending on vaping habits...

sawlight - Glad I could help. And you are right about the 10440's.

And for anyone attempting to make your own mod using li-ion batteries make sure they are protected. AW does have very high quality batteries...I have some RCR123's I received from him a couple years ago and they still work well although I haven't used them heavily. They are being used in my flashlight mod...
