Greetings from the North Coast!

I've been analog-free for almost two months but can't find a flavor I like. I read threads with vapers talking about how smooth the flavors are and how much they like/love them but I'm just not getting that. They all taste yucky!

I was a 25+ years 1-2 PAD smoker of Marlboro Reds and have been using pre-filled cartos of 12, 18 and 24 nic from V2 and Smokeless Image. Specifically, Red and Sahara (V2) and Cowboy and Grape (SI). As Grape has been the least offensive, I got a bottle of the juice so I could start refilling carts to save some money.

So, here's the question. Am I using the wrong hardware (808) or the wrong nic level or am I doing something altogether differently wrong? I really like the 808 and have no desire to go to anything bigger yet. Any insight would be most appreciated.

I'd also like to say a quick thanks to everyone here for all the help you provided while I was lurking and researching e-cigs. I wouldn't be tobacco-free without you!

Being new to this myself, I can't offer any experienced advice, but from what I've been reading on here, yeah I'd guess one or both of two things:

1) You just haven't found a juice that suits you yet, perhaps also the nic content, though less likely since you've tried most of the range (12, 18, and 24s).

2) My best hunch, the equipment. I know you said you aren't interested in purchasing anything new or different just yet, but I would say, again from what I've read, is a vv mod is what you need. The varying voltages on varying cartos can really change the flavor and vape output.

Just my inexperienced guess work. Hoping someone whom knows what they are talking about chimes in on this, so BUMP.

Carbon.

I think there are much better juice vendors out there than the two you have been using. Also prefills are never as good as ones that you fill yourself. Go to several juice vendors and order some sample packs. I looked at the samplers at Sweet-vapes.com and they sounded good.....LOL.......I can't give specific juice vendors that I have tried as I mostly DIY. Someone will be along shortly to give some juice vendor or flavor recommendations.

Look, people may yell at me, but I'm gonna tell you to get an Ego or compatible and some Boge LR cartomizers. It's just a better vaping experience, and still relatively cheap.

As far as juices, there are a lot of vendors out there. I'm a big fan of PinkSpot and eVaporClouds (reviews in my signature).

I meant to say "Hi and Welcome!" - sorry - I have been very busy.
So, as I said, start out first upping the nicotine level in your juice.
Can you tell us whether you think it's the actual taste you dislike, or could it be the harshness, say?
Because harshness or lack of overall flavor could be attributed to the ratio of the VG/PG (both mixing liquids).

Have a feeling I'll hear this a lot. Thanks!

I'm sorry you feel that way. The reviews I read here, and elsewhere, about V2 were very favorable. I don't regret the purchase at all.

nor should you regret your purchase!! ... I happen to be a fan of KR8's (what a V2 is) especially the horizontal coil cartos because they produce such good flavor, and vapor. Everytime I fill a new carto I end up wanting to eat my PV ( they are the best during the 1st 5-7days).

Some people just enjoy calling anything they don't like or use "crap" ...

I'm still evaluating the Ego. I'll look into the vendors you mentioned. Thanks much!

It's the actual taste I don't like. None of the flavors I've tried have been particularly harsh. I believe most I've tried use an 80/20 VG/PG (or vice versa) mix. Maybe my taste buds are still "dead" and just need more time to recuperate from the years of analogs?!

There is nothing wrong with your gear .... you simply do not like these flavors, so you need to branch out, move away from the pre-filled cartos, start trying flavors for some of the well known juice vendors and filling your own cartos.
I'm thinking along the same lines as Nikkita6, and there are some ejuices out there you could try that should satisfy you.
I vape menthol, for example, and I have gotten some pretty bad ejuices before I found my perfect ejuice. My nicotine level was 36 at first, and and this week I started with 24 (same flavor, just lower nic)- and it's just fine.
Since you were a Marlboro Red's person, (I wasn't, I was menthol) there should be someone on here that used to be a MR who found the perfect flavor. Once you get that flavor right, the nic level just needs to be tinkered with.
You ARE doing great, though. Keep up the good work!

That's what I'm hoping. Once I hit on the right combination, I'll enjoy vaping even more. I still crave an analog but my sense of smell has returned and they reek as does my house which I'll need to scour from top to bottom come spring. :)

I think the hardware you're using is more than likely fine for right now. However, buying prefilled carts is hit and miss (generally miss) at best and you're not going to get the enjoyment that so many of us have in finding juices that we like. Buy a pack of cartomizers (Boge, Smoktec, Kanger etc.) and learn to fill them properly. I assure you it will open up a whole new aspect of vaping that you have not had the pleasure to enjoy up to this point.

Vendors, that's another story. Take a minute or two to look at this thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-discussion/244945-2011-juice-year-award.html

If you like your pv and it's working for you...that's all that matters.
I agree to start filling your own cartos and try flavors from a few different vendors. I was a menthol smoker, yet do not vape anything minty or menthol anymore. If it sounds yummy, try it! I've tried and liked juice from Virgin Vapor. Mrs. T's, The Vapor Room and Alien Visions. (tried a few other vendors too, but those are the ones that stood out in the crowd for me.) I'm DIY now but keep a little Mrs. T's and Alien Visions on hand.
Good Luck!
