This is my first e cig. Unfortunately my usb charger and wall adapter didn't come with my order. I will be calling customer service tomorrow. SI was out of all the sampler packs so I bought a few different cartomizers, some blank cartos, and some juices.

1. How many drops of juice should I put in brand new blank cartos? How long do I need to let them sit before use?

2. Not really digging the cowboy flavor. It seems a bit harsh. Is the harshness related to the nic strength? My cowboy carto's are 18mg. So far I like my 12mg grape cartos.

3. Do new cartomizers take some "breaking in" ?

4. My Volt PCC is not big enough to hold an assembled e cig, not even with the short battery. It almost fits. Is this right? I thought it would hold one complete and one battery on the charger.

Drops can be so big or little it's tough to number them, but if you drip in slowly on the edges, avoiding the center tube until the filling looks damp or a drop comes out the bottom. Blow any excess out gently, and vape on :) The Volt cartos I've used don't seem to need much sitting time, (I'm inpatient...)

Flavors are very subjective, the difference in nic might not be as important as what flavor you like.

The Volt cartos are good to go once filled, no break-in.

Don't have a PCC, so no idea, sorry...

Lower nic levels can be smoother, but sometimes it's the flavoring agent that's either harsh, or simply doesn't agree with you. If you can try it in a 12, go for it - if that isn't reasily available - well, you dig the grape, right? :D

Hey there--

Volt cartos are rated to hold about 1ml of juice. Depending on how you measure drops you should probably get anywhere between 18-25 in there. It's okay if you overfill it, just give a few gentle blows on the top end and then wipe off the battery connector (be careful if you're using auto batts to make sure the battery connector is not dripping at all--if it gets down in there it can kill the auto batteries).

Despite being a huge fan of the Volt, I am not a big fan of the juice Smokeless Image uses. They're believed to be 100% PG and I found them to be pretty dang harsh on my throat, etc. The great news is there's about a zajillion juice vendors out there. Reading this board will help you find out about the most popular. And most give a lot less "sting" than the SI juice.

I have both of the SI PCC's and a short batt with a carto fits in both. In the "slider" PCC it fits in the top slot, on the "mega" PCC it will fit in either slot. You sure you have a short batt?

Re harshness - Nicotine is TH. Nicotine can also be irritating. And some flavors add an additional sharp edge to the hit. I was an 18mg vaper but I could not vape a couple of 18mg juice flavors in KR808D-1 in hotter cartos (Vapor4Life WOW cartos which are about as hot as you can go on a slim KR8, a bit hotter than SI cartos). So I bought the juice and started vaping that one on a manual 510 with Boge standard resistance cartos which is a moister somewhat softer hit. Once I got down to 10-12 mg I could vape it on the KR808D-1. if you like the juice. try it down a nic level. You won't have a nic fit - take a few extra drags if you feel the need. But some study showed nicotine alone is not that addictive. Cigarettes have some chemical that makes them more addictive. Feeling the smoking/vaping is addicative though and if the juice is a TH level you like, then that is easier.

SI cartos are much like the Vapor4Life ones inside and about the same size so this still applies

--------
How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. I sometimes use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel)

25 drops and let them sit for at least 20 minutes

Taste is subjective so that flavor might not be for you. But yes, harshness is related to nic strength most of the time
3. Do new cartomizers take some "breaking in" ?
Some do but Volt cartos are good out of the box

With the 65mm batt than yes, you can fit a fully assembled unit in it. But with the 78mm batt than no. It won't fit unless you have the mega PCC

Hope this helps you out a bit. If you have any issues at all than contacting SI is your best bet. Their customer service is top notch.

    in a cave, eh?
When you drip juice into your cartomizer, it takes a while for all of the juice to soak up. You don't want to start vaping on just a few drops of juice and risk burning up the carto filler. You can speed up getting juice in there by either giving the carto several spins (i.e. taryn spin) or by shaking it like a thermometer.

As far as battery size goes, standard KR808s are pretty close to the stated 65mm and 78mm sizes from the end of the battery. If yours are 3-4mm longer, that's sounding a little weird.
