Hi and welcome,

How long did you smoke cigarettes? How many per day?
What is the nicotine level of the juice you have?
Can you tell us about your coil? Material, size, wraps, resistance?
How many watts are you using?

Cheers

Well weight gain is a common result of quitting smoking.... imo mainly because you are no longer burning your tastebuds. And can taste food again.

Add to that many vape juices reproduce food and drink flavors.. this too can stimulate appetite.

Then the glycerin wether VG or PG which is basically liquid sugar. Sugar or sweets are another appetizer.

No not surprised your eating more.. food tastes better.....

Thank you for your response.
If you are just beginning to vape, particularly when using a high airflow, sub-ohm device; be extra careful NOT to gulp or swallow the vapor to accommodate the volume.
Swallowed vapor/ air can be uncomfortable and may be contributing to your symptoms (hunger).

I hope that helps.
Good luck with stopping smoking!

I ate more when I started vaping, but I really needed to (I was pretty ill when i started vaping). The bonus is, food started to taste a lot better.

Unless you've vastly reduced your nicotine intake in comparison to tobacco well, that might play a role. I believe nic is considered the "appetite suppressant" part of tobacco, although I will say, everyone's slightly different.

If you feel you are eating "too much" as it were, there are probably strategies to work on that, my personal favorite is exercise, it should be (somewhat) more enjoyable if your breathing has improved and etc., and it will boost your metabolism and also provide a few hours of appetite suppressant afterwards, it's probably healthier than attempting to reduce food intake or anything else. I will say, I don't hear a TON of folks stating they gained a mountain of weight when switching to vaping, as the nic and the hand to mouth habit are pretty effective as appetite deterrents. Etc. I mean, I gained weight but I really just had to work at it, and it was kind of a goal. However, I'd also point out you'd need to gain, like 300 lbs, probably to be as unhealthy as a smoker, so I wouldn't sweat the issue too much (LOL, various numbers have been bandied about at me as doctors and other folks have "urged" me to quit) but yeah, you'd pretty much have to more or less double in size to remove the "healthfulness" of vaping.

If good tasting flavors are urging you to eat, you could always go back to tobacco and menthol flavors during the time of day that is a problem.

I have a hard time with the VG is a sugar argument. I mean, I know it sort of is, but I can't help feeling that inhaling it would cause an issue. It is possible to swallow way too much vape if your style of vaping isn't working out, I could see that making a difference, but I'm doubtful that inhaling it will cause an issue. Most diabetics do fine inhaling VG and flavors, with little or no change to their blood sugar levels. I'm going to guess that really, your body is just noticing you're not trying to intermittently kill it all the time and etc. etc. And, it's saying "I am hungry."

There are worse problems to have.
