Is it really just the nicotine that we are addicted to?

I have been vaping for 3 months and have no intention of ever smoking another cigarette again. I have noticed that since I started vaping, I don't feel the need to vape like I did to smoking. I can go hours without vaping without even realizing it, but when I smoked I seemed to always be in a panic. Do I have enough cigarettes to get me through the day, lighter, can I smoke where I'm going etc. I'm really thinking that there has to be something else in analogs that is far more addictive than nicotine.

simple answer? no

back in the late 90's the big 4 tob companies were required to list the ingredients added to cigs and whats in the smoke
there are 400+ additives
there are 3500+ chemicals in the smoke.

some of these substances can cause major dependency, especially when mixed together. they are added just for that reason.
coca cola is one of the highest caffeine content colas on the market -is it really strange thats its also the best selling?

There are alot of other additives (over 2,000 as I understand it) in cigarettes that "hook" a person besides just the nicotine. I don't know the names of them all (ha!) but they are in there, and they have a powerful pull!

I'm not nearly as addicted to nicotine as I am the hand to mouth rituals and such...so I vape just as much as I smoked. Only difference is, I've found I'm fairly indifferent to the nicotine itself. I now only vape 4mg and am pretty sure it's going to be pretty easy to go down even more to maybe even 0mg. nic (started at 24 or 18mg) . BUT...the hand to mouth thing will STILL be there...and I'll still be vaping!!

I'm still vaping 18 mg myself. I agree with the whole hand to mouth thing. I've quit smoking several times in the past and instead of a cigarette it was food and the weight would pile on. That was always my "reason" to start smoking again. I've lost 10 lbs since vaping with a few more to go. I'm only 5' tall, so 10 lbs or more on my frame is alot. I'm thinking of lowering my nic on my next juice order so see what happens.

What you need is someone to order you lower nic without you knowing, then you'll probably find you wont even notice if you go from 18->12mg :)

Of course much more. Otherwise the nicotine patches would've worked.
However I get opposite effect. I was not ever concerned about where to get or where to smoke analogs. They sell them on every corner... lots of people to ask from if you're caught in between. With vaping it's much harder, nowhere (near) to get it if something breaks. For me, I can't get even crappy knock-off in hour radius during weekends. And since I don't drive this gives me a lot of panic, because I can't get there anyway on weekends...
I'm very stressed about juices, will it be good? Will it last? Will it go through customs and I won't end up not having good juice?
I hope to be where you are in couple month, sort out what juice I like, get enough hardware and huge stock of juices :)

As for how much I vape - I have no idea compared to smoking. When I was smoking I'd go out once an hour and smoke. Now with vaping I can take puff every ~5 minutes because I don't need to go out... From puff count I'm probably in same place as with analogs.
What I do know is that I don't smoke at night. If I get up at night to go to toilet I grab some snack, drink water and smoke 1 cigarette before going to back bed. Now it's just snack/water and back to bad.

I haven't even thought of this before today, but I can definitely say that since I switched to vaping, I do not get those intense cravings anymore. For example, this morning I got up and cooked breakfast for the family, ate, did the morning dishes, took a shower and then finally I seen my eCig on my dresser, and thought "Wow, not a puff since last night, I must need it!". Did I really though? Thinking about it more, this happens quite often; my morning routine is really quite different than it used to be. I cannot remember once in the 18 years of smoking analogs where smoking wasn't the first thing I thought of the second I woke up. My first cigarette of the day was always before I even rolled out of bed.

I think I might try 16mg-18mg on my next order, and see if I can survive without the 24mg. If that is a success, I think i'll be headed towards 0mg eventually.

i was worried about the same thing when i got going, hadnt notices a difference, then i changed my delivery system and feel the nic stronger then before and dropped it even more. very rarly i will get a stress urge to smoke (more old habit then anything) so i pop in some 24 and my head start spinning, and urge goes away, then back to 16ish.
