In my happy place
I just came across this. Could not believe that this is from a Director of Public Health.

Do we need to think again about e-cigarettes? | birminghamnewsroom.com

Birmingham’s Director of Public Health, Dr Adrian Phillips, looks at the thorny issue of e-cigarettes and whether they have a role to play in helping smokers quit. There are some things in my professional life I can be absolutely certain about:

  • Smoking kills
  • Obesity is a ticking time bomb that threatens future generations of Brummies
  • We would have a much healthier city if we were all more active
But other issues are not so straightforward of course and a topic where I believe there is no definitive answer as yet is that of e-cigarettes.

Increasingly more public health agency directors in UK are supporting e-cigs, largely due to ASH UK's surveys (and their accurate representation of survey findings), former ASH UK Director Clive Bate's excellent blog postings, Robert West's objective smoking cessation data (and his accurate representation of those findings), and by activist vapers in the UK.
