Is making cart filler worth the trouble?

I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle of searching for the perfect cart filler. I'm not talking about topping off an original filler, but making your own filler

I've tried everything I've seen mentioned here except the tea bags. Nothing compares to the original filler material, IMO. I want to save money, but the constant battle with even the original filters, once they're used a few times, makes me wonder if it's worth it, especially when you compare the cost of the carts to the cost of analogs.

Another thing that makes me wonder about the benefits is that when I'm talking to people who are asking questions about the benefits of e-cigs, I'm often asked if it's worth the trouble because they see me fiddling with my cart so often. The cost of 100 empty carts with shipping (from China) is about 30.00. Figuring that you could top them off enough to basically refill them at least once (probably twice), that's the equivalent of at least 200 carts. Each 801 cart is equal to about 1/2 pack of analogs. That translates to 100 packs, or 10 cartons. I'm beginning to think it might be worth that just to simplify my life. Making my own juice to save money seems a lot easier.

What do y'all think? Does anyone here buy the empty carts?

I prefer dripping. I find that my atomizers last significantly longer than using carts (because I tend to keep the atomizer wetter). If you decided to keep refilling your carts, just head over to your local crafts store and pick up some poly-fill (the same crap they stuff in pillows and quilts). You can get a large bag of it for about $3.50 - and it will last you a couple lifetimes over. :thumb:

Obviously, I need to search the forum because I'm not totally clear on what dripping is, exactly. Thanks for the suggestion. As for the poly batting, I just find it's very inconvenient. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I vape a LOT and find I'm constantly pulling off the cart to top it off, pull the filler back into place, seems it's something every 5 minutes. Of course, your mileage may vary. :)

Filling carts? Topping off? What is this that you speak of? I would add myself to the group of drippers, but since my atomizer is not recessed I just dip. It does keep the wick wetter. I stopped using carts within 3 days! I have yet to have an atomizer die on me with my m401.

I am thinking about getting a 510 with a manual battery for when I am in loud or windy conditions... and that has a recessed atomizer. If I get that, I will be a dripper and a dipper, but never again will I mess with carts other than as an empty mouthpiece. Besides... vaping just tastes cleaner from wick only consumption:D

When you say it taste cleaner do you mean the burnt tasting plastic or whatever it is goes away with an empty cart?

Yeah.. with the carts you can end up heating up/burning dry fibers. I also think the fibers getting on the atomizer are bad for it. A dry atty tastes foul too. But even with a topped off wet cart, it does not taste the same as when just on the wick alone in my opinion.. there is more flavor without the cart.. Plus it helps you keep track better in regards of how much you are consuming. A freshly cleaned and dry/hungry atomizer (for the m401/2 at least.. sucks up about 3 drops. Dipping when still a little wet but producing less vapor sucks up about two drops. There is also NO waste of liquid like with carts. :) This is just personal experience of course.

If you are constantly topping off a cart to keep things wet anyway... Why not just dip/drip every 15 puffs or so? No waste of liquid in the bottom of fiber filled carts.

edit: New attys taste icky anyway because of the primer juice. I soak my new atty's in alcohol for a bit then blow them out with canned air, then let the wick soak up as much juice as it wants.. That foul new atomizer taste is *poof*... gone.

remove the batting entirely from the cart. If you can even remove any kind of sub cup that is only there to hold the batting.

Drip 2 drops of liquid directly onto the atomizer. Be sure to aim for the center and hit the bridge of the atomizer rather than just letting it run down the sides.

now put the blanked out cart on and vape away.

This should last about 1 cigarette worth of drags, around 10 to maybe 15.

Now here is the thing, if you drip two drops than take only 5 drags and redrip you are going to end up over saturating the atomizer (also called flooding). If you do this the hit will actually suffer. to much liquid is just as bad as not enough.

You should also be aware that it is possible to get liquid all the way down into the battery if you flood the atomizer and the liquid can damage the automatic switches in batteries.

Despite the 'risks', dripping tends to deliver much better hits. You will get several hits in a row that all seem like the very first hit off a fresh cart.

In my extreme laziness, I decided it was easier just to lop off half of the mouth piece on one of my carts so I can drip directly to the atomizer without removing it. Believe it or not, this also prevents "overdrips" from getting sucked back into your mouth when vaping. :thumb:

I have to admit that being a nub here I have lots of doubts and concerns.

Yesterday I could not vape at all... I cleaned my atomiser twice at work but there was no vapor coming out of it..

Then I got home and tried the Intellicig Rich tobacco (I have only about 2-3 ml left of it only) as I know that it produces so much vapor...and the atomiser worked fine...It`s been fine since then..

I`m not sure why is that.... probably the liquids that I`ve got have to be mixed with PG/VG...to produce better vapor
